the lack of northward movement is somewhat strange for this hurricane
if this is how these global warming new style ones moving it might be a bit concerning for us

Worse than Tobago. Part of the cone is on land which means anywhere in that area can get Hurricane force winds up to 145mph.

That's the 2nd system they were talking about. Low chance of development into a storm but still a lot of rain today.

Its not really weird. There are steering currents keeping the storm on its current path.
Those currents are what also kept TS Alberto and TS Chris reasonably south

Given that TTWS has updates on a more frequent basis we know they not related to TTMS who moves at the speed of the public sector.

Nationwide curfew announced in Jamaica as Hurricane Beryl inches closer
Hurricane Beryl, which has caused at least six deaths, weakened slightly to a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph by Tuesday night. However, it is still expected to be a major hurricane or nearly so when it approaches or makes landfall in Jamaica on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced a nationwide curfew from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The entire island has also been declared a disaster area for the next seven days under section 26 of the National Disaster Risk Management Act.

An evacuation order is also in effect for areas prone to landslides and flooding.

Over the weekend, Beryl became the strongest June hurricane on record, with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph. It was the first Category 4 storm to occur in June and the earliest Category 4 on record in the Atlantic Basin. The storm strengthened from a tropical depression to a major hurricane in just 42 hours, a feat only six other Atlantic hurricanes have achieved, none before September, according to hurricane expert Sam Lillo.

from that pic hopefully the dangerous eyewall stays off land but they would still get hurricane force winds on that southern tip.

Hurricane Beryl Hammering Jamaica With Potentially Devastating Impacts, Cayman Islands Next

At a Glance
Beryl's strike on Jamaica has begun.
It will then strike the Cayman Islands, followed by Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
It's also a threat to the western Gulf Coast, from Texas to Mexico early next week.
Hurricane Beryl became the earliest Atlantic Category 5 overnight after hammering the Windard Islands Monday.

Hurricane Beryl has begun a potentially devastating strike on Jamaica and will then hammer the Cayman Islands and the Yucatan Peninsula before its final chapter in the Gulf of Mexico that will likely include impacts in eastern Mexico and Texas.

Current status: Beryl has begun its lashing of Jamaica as its eyewall containing its strongest winds continues to draw closer. On Beryl's eastern flank, bands of rain continue to wrap into parts of Haiti, which could result in flooding and mudslides.

imagine that height of water coming on shore

STORM SURGE: Storm surge could raise water levels by as much as 6
to 9 feet
above normal tide levels in areas of onshore winds along
the immediate coast of Jamaica.
