Many Trinis fail to see our problems in light of the bigger regional or global picture. And even if they try, they start with the impression that things are worse here.

Govts past and present promising RFID license plates. It would help.

However, it would just move the problem to what other countries experience which is the stealing of license plates. I remember a few yrs ago in Venezuela, ppl esp with hatchbacks would mount their license plate behind the rear windscreen. So that if someone were to steal it they would have to try to break the hard laminated glass first.

But that would also include fully digitising and cleaning up the LO database which is ongoing. Plus that rollout will be more upsetting than the $100 polymer note. Plus as these plates would be more expensive the govt would have to pass on the costs of the plate to the user and we would hear the cry that the poor man can't afford new plates.

Other than that, pretty obvious and easy.

realistically the amount of crime it would curb it would be worth it for the government to take on the costs
and only license offices or a few authorized dealers like inspection centers be allowed to order or allow new number plates

nothing more upsetting than current crime situation and useless police

sometimes when u go to make a report they telling u up front most likely they cant find who it is or recover anything

at a minimum the existing inspection sticker should be stuck on the plate also
so if a car have a mismatching sticker on glass and plate then it’s visibly obvious to even a dog
