Ent yuh cud get bail for murder now? So even if dey charge him for murder (because iz one ah dey own dead), at least years eh go pass him rotting away in remand (assuming he can afford bail).

Father and daughter killed over an alleged land dispute

A Trinidad-born American resident on her way to the airport to board a flight home yesterday morning never made it.

Kimberly Beharry, 40, a bank employee of New Jersey, USA, and Brian Geoffroy, 60, of Williamsville, were killed after the occupant of another vehicle shot them while they were travelling in a car near the Gasparillo Overpass.

Geoffroy’s wife Jasmine, 55, was in the backseat, and was wounded.

They picked up Beharry in a Hyundai City vehicle at her Bedeau Street, Gasparillo home after 1 am to take her to the Piarco International Airport.

Beharry lived in New York and worked at M&T Bank in New Jersey. She was sitting in the front passenger seat.

When they got to the Gasparillo overpass, however, several loud explosions were heard, and a white Nissan Tiida drove up behind them. The car then pulled alongside their vehicle and a gunman opened fire on Geoffroy and Beharry.

Geoffroy crashed through the barrier at the Gasparillo entrance to the Guaracara Refinery, while the assailants sped off, proceeding north along the highway.

Geoffroy’s wife suffered injuries and was taken via ambulance to the San Fernando General Hospital, where she remains warded in a stable condition.

In a brief telephone interview, Beharry’s mother Kay Sankar denied a social media report that her daughter was involved in a family feud or came to the country to settle a court matter.

She said, “It doesn’t have any truth to that and we don’t know what went on. We really don’t know.”

Sankar said her daughter had no problems. She explained that Geoffroy was a friend of the family and had volunteered to drop her daughter to the airport.

“He did nothing wrong. She did nothing wrong. They did not deserve this,” Sankar lamented.

She said they had no clue why anyone would want to murder them.

“Talk to the police, they were there. There are cameras all over. I just passed and I saw about three cameras where this happened,” she said.

When Guardian Media visited Geoffroy’s residence, no one was at home.

Police recovered 12 9mm spent shell casings at the scene and were still trying to determine a motive last evening.

Snr Supt Brian Soodeen, head of the Southern Division, was among the officers who visited the scene. Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three are investigating.

true but hopefully they are giving severe conditions for that bail for murderers besides a high bail- like curfew, gps tracker, etc.

Based on the Newsday story this was not murder, but self defence in a home invasion gone wrong.
