6” there’s regular pvc, never seen for the 8”. There’s big guttering you can get or do you need the full circle shape?

You can first try using white vinegar. Spray it or brush it on and let it sit. Then wipe it off with a cloth dampened with vinegar. Follow with a rinse of clear water.

Vinegar is mildly acidic. You could also use dilute muriatic acid (hydrochacid acid), if you are careful. Acids will eventually dissolve Portland cements.

Looking for suggestions for the flooring of an attic/loft. Currently there are c purlins spaced 2 ft apart. I was told that the best option is ply but it is susceptible to termites.

What options do I have for this flooring? Must be cost effective as well.

How do you deal with a termite infestation btw.
Seeing a trail coming out of a plug in an unused room.

Is cement board cost effective when compared to ply? What thickness of cement board you referring to Also? Also won't cement board develop fractures and cracks from weight and movement over a period of time?

Marine ply, 3/4”. Just did this attic and its purpose is for very heavy stuff, hence the size of the beams.

I believe the proper way to do it was to drill holes around the foundation of your house and pump in the chemicals so that you treat it from the source...something like that.

This is similar to what I'm doing except I use 2x4 I beams and purlins. I must ask by what means do you plan on accessing this attic? Are you going to fabricate an actual step, ladder or are you having some type of drop down ladder?

Correct, it’s to poison the termites water supply.

There’s an existing step to the living room and I’m utilizing that with a ladder. Due to what is being stored and the frequent moving a step wasn’t viable. I maximized the space for storage. Still have to paint and install the extractor fan.

if nobody jumping up on the cement board
5/8” with 2 ft purlins will be fine

marine ply is only because of water resistance
termites or wood lice will find there way there

I treat it with diesel which works best for me. My attic in south is going on 12 years and no issues with termites thus far. The quality of cement board on the market isn’t the best. 18” spacing for the 5/8”, If using 3/4” then the 2’ apart will be fine.

What the procedure for treating the ply using diesel?

paint it on, will stink
tbh i not sure if it really works since it is simply a petroleum distillate you are using and it will evaporate eventually
but ppl swear by diesel

You can also dig a trench 6 inches deep by aprox 4 inches wide around your house and pour the diluted chemicals into the trench. Termidor is the brand name chemical which contains 9% fipronil while the aftermarket brand Taurus SC contains the same 9% but is much cheaper. Mind you a 20oz bottle of Taurus costs about $625 and treats 60 linear feet of trench

how are you sure that 6” trench will allow the chemical to soak in the base of the walls where they coming from underground to go up?

I was looking at vids done by professional users and this is what they recomended. Also the chemical manual specifies to dig to the base of the foundation or min 6 inches if your foundation isn't deeper than 4 feet.
