Hmmm paid $10k for a 4 year old PAO Ford Lazer in 1988. 1.3L engine No radio, No AC, manual 4 speed gearbox, no front stabilizer bar, manually adjusted front seat belt and no rear seat belts.

Yup the good old days when the dealership brought the cheapest most basic models and sold at maximum price.

LOL. My old man bought me a PAL2858 Laser back in 1986. I was in UWI at the time. Same specs as yours but I was the happiest kid in the world with that car. Life was simpler back then. I think he paid $12K back then.

Where would the Curepe Roundabout have been found?

I really can’t remember the roundabout. But Neal and Massy had a storage yard in the approximate location where KFC/Pizza Hut is in Valsayn.

Where Kaydonna was - there was a roundabout there to filter traffic moving across the Churchill Roosevelt Highway and the Southern Main Road.

Really interesting thread.
I take it from the YT comments on the Sound Basin video that Amar isn't around anymore. What happened?

And what are the odds that my legendary KE30 wagon was locally assembled?

Damn, the Telstar was calling real bigman price back then.

As a youthman I found it was futuristic looking, then I found out it was a badge engineered 626. Was it on par with the Mazda or worse?

Essentially the same car. But I believe the Telstar came with a 2.0L while the Mazda 626 was a 1.8L. I may be wrong, but it’s a long time ago.

You’re right about the De Ville’s. I am of the same vintage as you and I remember those cars very well.

Who let this rotten down so?

Trinis sentimental with their cars but rather see it rotten down in the elements. Wont even spend a couple hundred for a tarp self

Rather see it rotten down in their possession than to see a next man drive it.

Boy...I couldn't believe that too.
The 1.5 was a NGC car with CNG and that was amazing even with the weight Vs the 1.3 version.

Do you guys think we in Trinidad are capable of building modern cars especially electric ones that can compete in quality with those sourced from the UK or Japan
