Restart your phone and see if that will help. For some reason this happens to me on occasion as well.

Tried that initially. Other people on the bmobile network have the same issue. Same with the Amplia internet.

It’s been over a month and TSTT just have a ticket open there and they can’t seem to fix it. Local SMS works. They keep telling me to put a ‘+1’ in front it as if I from the 19th century.
Anyone ever experience this?

redmanjp wrote:Hey, I have a prepaid phone and i use the 30 day data addon which gives me 2GB- is there a way to prevent your credit from being used up after the plan expires after the 30 days? it automatically switches to pay as u go which is $2 per mb.
i would have had at least $25 or $30, but it went down to $6 and i didn't actively use anything. if there is a way to stop it after the plan finishes until i put on another plan? i would prefer that instead of having to turn off mobile data- by the time i do that the money already gone![]()
not even being on wifi helps as by the time i get a sms saying the plan has expired i was already home connected to wifi so it could have expired before the message was sent.

Switched to digicel years now and problem was resolved. Once plan expires, you need to explicitly opt into pay as you go data. If you dont, you will still see the data icon on, but wont be able to browse anything except the mydigicel app

The missing money when the data plan expired should be recovered.

Huh? That worked? How? Major Tom can you explain please?
Redmanjp, can your phone limit data usage after a certain set amount? I do this on my phone the few times I purchase a data plan (from Bmobile). I can set a warning limit when the phone just notifies me and a maximum limit when the phone will notify me and stop using data. I always set the max limit to a bit below the amount that I purchased, just in case the phone does not count accurately.

yes my phone can limit data usage which i set to 2GB which is the plan i have. but i cant do anything about the expiry.

Yup experienced this intermittently between 2016-2021. Sometimes I would get international SMS verification codes, some times I would not. Since 2022 I have not been receiving any of those international verification SMS at all. Ported from Digicel to bmobile.

Airplane mode sends a ping signal to the tower that it's turning off the radio. The cells tower notes your location and expects a new location when you reconnect so discards the current data settings that has been passively pinging between your phone and network towers. These pings are using a LTE data protocol because you were on a data plan, and when it expired it simply switched to pay-as-you-go @ $2/MB. So the system keeps charging rates.
Turning off airplane mode starts an active ping and the cell tower gives you new connection settings. The cell towers system would realize with this forced change that LTE data transmission is now off and switch back to the GSM protocol to ping your location and handshake. Your cell phone SIM account then audits and updates itself regarding expiration of the data plan and when it ended and disregards those passive pings and the data sent over them so you get back the credit. If you actively used internet data while the plan expired like Whatsapp or Google it wouldn't work.
