It's quite simple...

Pnm insiders know that the educated rasta with his verbiage would ketch his constituents and the general pnm base. He can easily "take one for the team" since his "borderline" racist comments about indians radiates with the base. Any critique of him, race card can be pulled easily with comments such as "he's an educated black man and dize why dem indian doh like him atalllll..."

Pulling a Race card/sympathy card is a cheap move, but it works sadly

Esp for low IQ populations like ours who simultaneously want to be progressive and care about people's feelings over the fact that hundreds die every year.
