Expedia hotel reservations

Postby nightcrawler » March 25th, 2023, 10:44 am

Good day, has anyone ever used Expedia and encountered any bad experiences? I usually use booking.com and hotels.com but Expedia have some really good package prices for tickets and hotels. Google says they are legit but also read some bad reviews also.

night,

Expedia is one of the cheaper options to get “best deals” and “bang for your buck” but you also read the negative reviews as well. So while you will save some money, your possibility of being inconvenienced increases. Those hotels LOVE to throw the “I’m sorry Sir you booked through Expedia” in your face.

Me, been there done that. I book directly on the Hotel website and directly through the Car Rental etc…..Gator don’t play no sheit, u feel me?

Stick to Booking. Expedia is a headache and a half if anything at all goes wrong.

I have successfully used Expedia for hotels without problems.
What most people get challenges with, is not reading the “fine print” and “assuming” standard items are included as it is not clearly stated on their website and it written generic to cover all hotels.

And “yes” if you have any problems Expedia is your 1st call to resolve it.

Additionally Expedia is not necessarily cheaper if you compare T&C as their may be differences in cancellation policy, pre-payment, loyalty rewards, view, breakfast, etc.

You just need to know what is the right thing for you.

P.s. fact worth nothing, most travel services on internet if not purchased directly from supplier is provided by Expedia as their group owns these companies: expedia, hotels.com, vrbo, travelocity, egencia, hotwire, orbitz, ebookers, cheaptickets, carrentals, expedia cruises, wotif, trivago

Expedia has been reliable for me and customer service has improved, they are the porn hub of travel though, they own Hotels.com, Vrbo, Travelocity, Hotwire.com, Orbitz, Ebookers, CheapTickets, CarRentals.com, Expedia Cruises, Wotif, and Trivago.

Probably many more smaller ones too

Never had any issues with Expedia. That being said, yes many times the hotel themselves would give better deals so it's advisable to compare your hotel of choice between expedia and the main hotel website.

Only ever had one problem with expedia where i booked a hotel, showed up and was told there were no rooms. After 15 mins on the phone with expedia, i was rebooked in a more stoosh hotel for no additional cost, plus got US$100 vex money

I've used Expedia a few times and generally found their package deals to be good value. However, like any service, there are occasional issues, so it’s wise to read recent reviews and check the fine print.

Depends on where you’re going and what type of vacation. Like whole family etc.
airbnb is a rip off sometimes. Choose wisely

Yep well said.

But like anything, research and review.

With regard to hotels, i always book directly through them.

If money tight, then just book the cheapest on the google search and absorb the risk with whoever. Other than that, save a lil more for the booking protection.

Well, again pug…research and review.

A good host will have a detailed advertisement, good reviews and very fast communication. If you not getting any of those 3 things, move on to the next.

d only issue is that if u have a problem with the booking then you have to call expedia to sort it out

if u book directly from hotel sometimes you get it cheaper as well as any issues they would sort it out at the desk immediately

I'd book hotels with Expedia, it's fine.

Airline tickets I'd book through the airline as it's easier to deal with if there are any changes.

I’ve used Expedia a few times, and overall, it was fine, but I did have one issue where a hotel reservation didn’t go through properly. Customer service fixed it, but it took some time. Their package deals can be a good option, though, as long as you double-check all your details and keep confirmation emails handy.

When I traveled to Berlin last time found a site with great hotel discounts and decided to try it. It worked out well, and making my expat life in Berlin more exciting with discounted travel deals saved me money while giving me more time to enjoy the trip. That's why now every time whenever I would like to travel I would check the deals first and then make a decision. Just make sure to confirm your reservations, and you should be fine!

Did some complicated trip booking on Expedia and in total used them to book around 15 trips in the past 10 years. Never had an issue.

Just make sure and call the hotel a couple days before travel to make sure they have your booking and you good to go.
