Metal steel bumpers / front bumper licensing office

Postby Kenjo » March 12th, 2023, 7:50 am

Lots of places offering metal replacement front and back bumpers for off-road or styling . Anyone knows if it affects the weight and fuel economy. Some aren’t the same colour as the original vehicle . Is a change of weight and colour required in licensing office ?

Got my vehicle inspected and passed with after market locally made bull bars front and back with no issues and it's different color as well. Don't think it should be an issue

Yes
You are required to do

1) notification of change: change of weight (TARE) to include the weight of the bumper and to state that the bumpers are now metal.
Cost: $35

Some bumpers can be 40-70kg, so tare wouls increase by this much

2) notification of change: equipped with winch
(If applicable)
Cost: $35

A winch is around 40-55kgs

#1 & 2 can be put on the same application form if both are equipped at the same time

3) notification of change: Tare weight

4) weighbridge fees: $20

You may be required to do a colour change also if the bumper isnt same colour with the vehicle (they will tell u accordingly)

And of course, an updated CC to reflect the new changes
Cost: $100

Lots of people in work with those bumpers are having to re-weigh, change CC to reflect, and then apply for inspection.

I assume the big parts supplier companies adequately inform customers
