In Trinidad it's not so simple. I started doing it because my laptop conked out and I LITERALLY called every laptop repair shop in Trinidad and they don't fix motherboards (anymore). It's very labour intensive. You can't get the simple SMD components in Trinidad reliably, far less for IC chips. The only supply chain would be in bulk from China through AliExpress or DHGate, etc. Most local electronic shops like Steve's and Sham's don't really cater for this, they largely only supply the larger type larger components like electrolytic caps and resistors. They may sell some generic MOSFETs which generally won't work with the board you're fixing because most of the components on any board is proprietary. Just like the programmed IC Chips that may have burned out. The only way to replace them is to get a donor board of the exact model of another unit that was thrown away for scrap. It's rel headache which is why nobody does this anymore really in Trinidad. I called the 1-800-Dell number and they said they had a local authorized repair center on Mucurapo St. So I called them and they said they just order the entire board from their Dell supplier and replace it, nobody micro-solders any individual components because they just don't have. So if these people don't do it, nobody can or will do it locally.
If it's a very large, expensive and specialist piece of equipment, contact the authorized dealer and they will fix it through their channels by ordering an entire replacement board from the company and they will send technician can just replace the board. Or you can Google for micro-electronic repair and find a company in USA that does it and Fedex the board to them. However, depending on the component that's damaged, they may simply not be able to replace it without an exact donor board.
Sorry that's just the reality of the current situation with these types of repairs and I am telling you from experience.

search micro smd labs on the forum - does excellent work for me - zero issues
maj. tom wrote:I still buying equipment I have a soldering and rework station, microscope, DC bench power supply, a good JCM multimeter, ESR meter in shipping, bought a small supply of smd 1206, 805 and 603 caps and resistors that I can't find locally, every week is a new piece of something i have to buy. But it's still just a hobby because I can't source a lot of the repair components. I make my own rosin flux because get expensive now. I want a thermal camera. An established repair shop would have a lot of donor boards and are capable of ordering the chips in bulk where it would be cost-effective. Most repairs are actually simple caps or a loose joint, recovering data from a usb is usually easy enough... but the chips are a problem to replace. Some of these MOSFETS like the Vishay SIC632 I can't find it at all! The exact replacement chip and to program it, and some of them are locked like Apple chips that don't allow programming so donor board needed. It's good fun and problem solving satisfaction though. Things like the LED rear lights in the newer cars that "can't be fixed and you need to buy the whole bumper assembly in Bamboo" sometimes is just a capacitor or a generic 3-pin MOSFET.
It's discouraging to think about it as a profitable business for me, but that Micro-SMD labs guy seems to be a bit established and coming up so OP may get it fixed there. I dunno about home visit though, I not toting all this equipment anywhere from my work table.

We have endless request from customers who want their laptops and computers repaired/upgraded but the fella i use to have doing it was notoriously unreliable and would take weeks and weeks for simple things.
