From the time power came back. You should contact flow support.

As soon as power came back I had internet and then it stopped working about a half hour to an hour after and hasn't come back on since.

Fedup try to contact them....nobody answering.

why would they be having problems AFTER the power came back? i remember when i had flow it would go down sometimes during an outage, but not afterwards.

for me my digicel+ stayed on as long as my ups had power. in fact when i came home last night the ups was off but it apparently still had power when i put it back on and i was on internet with my laptop before power came back.

I confirmed this with 2 people at TGU. There was an explosion there and a turbine got damaged. But not hearing anything about this in the news. So I'm not sure if the explosion caused the outage or the fault they mentioned caused the explosion

Repeater/amplifier units powered by the mains. Copper internet lines require them, fiber not as many. So you should notice these small gray boxes on the light poles every few hundred meters to a kilometer or so depending on how many customers they have to serve in the area. They are powered by the main lines through an AC to DC converter box that you probably also noticed on certain poles. These also belong to the cable company. When power goes now, your Flow telephone goes down as well because it's a VOIP system that requires internet. Unlike the old TSTT 48Volt self-powered lines direct to the PBX. Most of these repeater boxes are just going to restart normally when power is restored. But there will be an few that won't and like an old router they need to physically unplug it and plug it back in. Which means you should call Flow so they can send out a technician.

Fiber optics also do require optical repeaters but the attenuation loss is much lower. Some would have probably noticed the Digicel internet was quite slow but still working if you had your modem on a UPS.

Today’s Media Conference was held to discuss yesterday’s power outage which affected Trinidad. In attendance were Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young, Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales, Acting Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob, Chief of Defence Staff Darryl Daniel, and T&TEC General Manager Kelvin Ramsook.

Minister Young confirmed that a decision was taken at today’s meeting of the National Security Council for an in-depth, independent investigation into yesterday’s power outage. He said Cabinet will appoint a small team that will come up with recommendations to prevent a recurrence, and to ensure capacity building in our power grid system. The timeline for the recommendations from this Cabinet-appointed team is still to be decided.

Minister Young said Government was concerned by the island-wide power outage and the Prime Minister was kept up-to-date on the progress to restore electricity at all times. He stated, “This event has clearly demonstrated that there are vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities in the power generation and distribution, there’s a breakdown and disruption in the communication system.”

Minister Gonzales meanwhile confirmed that a Preliminary Report on the power outage was presented to Prime Minister Rowley. He said, “It is quite clear that there was no sabotage, or nothing from a human perspective that resulted in that disruption that took place yesterday.”

T&TEC General Manager Ramsook apologised to all T&TEC customers for yesterday’s event. He noted that T&TEC was in a position to supply power back to the country between 1PM and 1:30PM. However, two transport lines were impacted and failed. He said the way the operation took place after this forced the other power stations to go into shutdown mode. Mr. Ramsook said it was only at 6:50PM yesterday that T&TEC was able to have some degree of capacity “in a stable mode” at the Penal Power Station. He explained: “That allowed us to bring supply to the other generating stations and allow us to slowly add back capacity to the grid.”
The T&TEC General Manager said they will have a discussion on future action plans to prevent a similar situation from occurring.

Acting Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob noted that officers were deployed to ensure citizens were able to make their way home safely as several traffic lights were out of service. Mr. Jacob confirmed there were two incidents directly arising out of the blackout:
1. At the PTSC compound where some young men challenged a security officer, and one man was shot dead.
2. The Police Social & Welfare Service Station at the Beetham Highway was broken into and a vault stolen.

During the blackout, did you have cell phone service whether to make regular voice calls/SMS or data? If yes, are you on Digicel or bmobile? I'm on bmobile and had no service but some coworkers did. The majority that did were on Digicel but a couple were on bmobile. It seems to me that Digicel was the better network during the outage. Anyone observed differently?

Text messages were going through most times. One call came through clear for the most part. Didn't bother to try data

Subscribed to bmobile and 4G went down. Was able to receive calls and SMS in the first hour then no service for about two hours. HSPA (H+) service returned about the 4th hour but 4G was iffy until it stabilized when most of the electricity was restored.

If this was sabotage or a hack, would the pnm really admit that?

in arima my internet was still blazing at 100mb while running off the ups. but that would have been close to 11pm and perhaps some areas had power along the path the data travelled.

I feel Kamla organise that to threaten she own people for supporting PEA.

Look what she do to she own people in Debe/Suchit trace for the past 10-12 years.
Have the entire Southbound highway and the entire S.S.Erin road converging into a 1-LANE bridge.
Get caught in that at 2:30 when school over or 4:00 and you will wish you had really went and tutu in the work toilet before leaving.
