Got my Sinopharm last week. I got some headaches 2days later, I don't know if it was side effects or sinuses. But feeling fine now.

My wife got her 1st Sinopharm Friday last. No symptoms for her save for some headaches. She got hers at the Racquet Centre and took maybe 40 mins total including the time to observe.

Her appointment was for 8am to 9am but was it was like Carnival there so we came back home and tried back at 1.30pm at which time there was no one there. In the morning they were allowing everyone who walked up to go in and those who drove had to go park in the Eddie Hart Savannah and wait for them to call you in despite the Racquet Centre having lots of parking space. Luckily we live 5mins from the Racquet Centre.

Her 2nd shot is scheduled for Aug 8th at which time I will still be 1/2 vaxxed with my AZ from June.

St. Vincent's and Antigua's PMs are doing all manner of archaic things (like threatening to fire you, take away your pension, stop you from using essential services, etc) to coerce people to take the vaccine. Like it or hate it the only person on this earth that can tell you what to put in your body is you. Idk why these 'leaders' acting like they missed that memo. And the whole France vaccination thing may not go over as smoothly as the government plans.

The headline sounds scary but it is exactly what was predicted.

The vaccines are not to eliminate the virus but reduce hospitalisation and death. So the reality is that with this wave their hospitalisation will be less or less severe, and it will have less death.

That's how we know it is working. So you all can theorise with your immune system and ivermectin, but vaccines remain the best way to deal with this.

can doesn't mean will. the efficacy of e.g. 80% against infection means 80% less ppl who are vaccinated will get infected compared to unvaccinated. but even when infected the viral load is lower- so if most of the world population i.e. 80% or more get vaccinated and quick enough before any major mutations arrive which can cause vaccine escape then we have a good chance of ending it. note that ending the pandemic could mean the virus now becomes endemic - it still circulates but at a much lower level and causes less severe problems - just like the flu. if we get 95% vaccinated then we can perhaps eradicate it totally - but that aint' happening as some ppl will have medical reasons for not taking it.

but it's not really reducing hospitalizations, at least not in the Uk. why the stark difference between the US and UK? it's 60% vs 1% ! is it that the astrazeneca which the UK uses is not working?

It's 40% not 60%.

Either way, there's an explanation for this.

Remember over 80% of people over 60 got vaxed. They are the ones also most at risk for hospitalizations anyway.

I would imagine 90% of those hospitalized are over 50 and in that group the majority of those are vacinated.

The number of serious cases given the absolute number of cases is extraordinarily low.

12000 people died every year before corona. If that same amount dies this year then a lot will have died after taking the vaccine since we giving already sick people the vaccine
