But still - those are samples over the a three day period. If what others are saying is true and some don't get feedback on results for two weeks and counting, how are these accounted for? Or is it a case that the results are processed and reported but there is an absence of timely communication of results to the patients tested? Possibly the latter come to think of it.

In my pops case he never got back his results (over 3 weeks now). He ended up going private which confirmed he was positive.

closed bars
earlier close times for groceries etc
public sector might get a work from home if they can
gyms could see a limit to members
places of worship could close too

closed bars - might help, but what might happen is more house limes which are worse
earlier close times for groceries etc - I don't think this makes any sense as it just creates more crowds earlier in the day
public sector might get a work from home if they can - Good this will help a lot
gyms could see a limit to members - better than closing, wish the same could have applied to restaurants and outdoor dining
places of worship could close too - will help a lot

Government needs to put things in place that during this time if you are caught having limes or parties at home it will be a Jailable offense....AND ENFORCE IT

As many of you have indicated, there is allegedly a backlog in testing. So results of COVID tests at the Govt institutions are not made available the same day and, from the posts in this thread, could be made available a few days to a few weeks later.
So, are the numbers reported on a daily basis really based on tests conducted within the previous 24 hour period, or do the daily reported numbers include tests results from a few days to a few weeks ago?

If anything they should allow food places to open later.
Between 9 and 10pm does be a mad rush to buy food everywhere.

2 Chronicles 7:13-15 King James Version (KJV)
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

Good question:
They will tell you at the top - 224 cases reported over the last 24 hours (with an asterisk)
Then at the bottom, they will tell you the reason for the asterisk - The number of cases reported reflects the samples taken during the period 25th - 27th April and not the last 24 hours.
So to summarize, they are really saying that the results of the samples takes over the past 72 hours, all reached within the past 24 hours, and 224 people tested positive.
If that makes sense.
