on the accident yesterday /Trincity-Popeye's

https://guardian.co.tt/news/woman-killed-in-highway-accident-6.2.1141309.b5762c6b50

A 52-year-old Champ Fleurs woman died while receiving medical treatment after the vehicle she was in was hit by another vehicle along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Trincity yesterday.

The woman was identified as Nicole Figuera.

According to police reports, at about 7.30 am Figuera was in a grey Nissan Serena with her 56-year-old husband, who was driving. While proceeding east, their vehicle was struck by a Nissan Primera. Upon impact the two vehicles crashed along the northern embankment just before the Popeye’s fast-food outlet.

Figuera, police said, suffered extensive injuries to her legs and chest. The injured woman and her husband were taken to the Arima Hospital but she was pronounced dead at 8.15 am. Her husband also underwent emergency surgical procedures and was hospitalised up to last night. People in the other vehicle were also hospitalised.

Police said the 22-year-old driver of the Primera, a 22-year-old from Perkins Street, Arouca, told police he was proceeding east in the centre lane when got a bad drive which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

seems someone knows an eyewitness who can help the police with the lead up to accident from the posts earlier...

Seeing the eye witness say an Aqua was involved you sure you still want that person's evidence?

You think police believe this story? Nobody within 100 meters had a dashcam?

along with three other people; a 22-year-old man, as well as an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old. *3 were in the gold Nissan Primera*

Before going in for emergency surgery, the 22-year-old, who is from Perkins Street, Arouca, told police that he was driving his car, a gold Nissan Primera, in an easterly direction along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, when at 7.25 am on Sunday, while in the centre lane of the highway in the vicinity of Holiday Inn he got a "bad drive" from another car.

He said he applied brakes and pulled to the left, but he claimed his brakes did not work.

His next memory was of glass breaking, and hitting his head on the windscreen as he quickly went unconscious. He awoke sometime after with persons gathered around him and realized he had been involved in an accident.

He had hit a grey Nissan Serena driven by Christopher Figuera. The two cars careened off to the side of the roadway.

Police believe that the young men were coming from a lime as it was the driver's birthday.

Supposed to have cams by the lights which should be able to provide info in terms of the driving behaviour before the accident. Plus security cams by Holiday Inn or Popeyes should have picked up something. We'll have to wait and see for that and the blood test results.

Story sounds like a load of BS though...but stranger things have happened around that spot.

Easy to jump to conclusions, but mechanically speaking - sheit happens.

I was reversing from my yard once, and my front brake line ruptured. Imagine if I was on the highway.
Got some stainless steel replacements right away.

Gold Primera birthday boy wiped out a family yes. :|

Accident claims second life: Husband dies days after wife
Days after his wife, Nicole Figuera, 52, died during a road traffic accident, Christopher Figuera, 56, has himself succumbed to injuries sustained in the same accident. Christopher Figuera died on Wednesday morning at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.

His wife died on Sunday, shortly after the accident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Trincity. Three people, a 22-year-old man, as well as an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old, were also injured and are said to be aiding police.

4 children are now orphans because of a f....ng jackass, who was driving like a beyotch and also, allegedly, did not have a drivers permit.

F .. away with him.

And yes, I know the family.

You have no idea what it was like for the children to see their mother lying like a piece of cattle in the road via social media.

I waiting to see what the police will do here. If he is related to some officer or politician, that is the end of the story right there.

Yeah Penta/Ansa bought them out some years ago.

He was a real good guy with a close knit extended family unit, everything was his mom dad wife kids etc, visited their home in the 90s somewhere in St Joseph at the time I think ,he was a bit of a car guy as his cars always had a little sporty look with slight mods and stickers etc..

I hope parts of the extended family are still intact as the kids would definitely need that support now, that driver should be charged for some kinda manslaughter pronto..these were good citizens ..
