2 police applicants submitted fake CSEC certificates, says Fraud Squad :
TWO men who allegedly used fake certificates as they applied to become municipal police officers, are being investigated by the Fraud Squad.
A 31-year-old of San Fernando and a 32-year-old of Sangre Grande applied on-line as advertised, and were invited to be screened.
One went to the Municipal Police Academy at Gopaul Lands, Marabella over the weekend while the other went to that location on Tuesday.
While being screened, Caribbean Secondary Education Certificates (CSEC) were presented. Officers opined that they were not genuine, based on the inconsistency of the features with similar certificates. In one of the instances the seal, which is usually embossed, appeared to have been affixed with glue and easily removable.
The men were detained and turned over to San Fernando Fraud Squad officers, including corporal Lewis and constable Kernahan. The certificates were also given to the officers who are continuing investigations. The men could face the charge of uttering to a forged document.
ASP Belfon, corporal Seemungal, Ramdial and Lively-Jon and constable Boxic-Aguillera were present on the days the men were screened.
