what do you want to know exactly? as far as interchangeability there is nothing in this market really. in the US there is the Rodeo and Amigo which share a similiar platform.

there are a lot of upgrades but you have to be creative. for instance, if using the TD27 engine and box from the frontier, you have to flip over the front diff housing and re-install the diff as the nissan front driveshaft runs in the left of the vehicle.
conversely you can use the hilux/surf 2l engine and box but the front drag link (steering) gets in the way. there is also the mazda RF and R2 as well as the mitsu 4d56 in 4WD.
the same goes with brakes, when we had the pajero brakes on we used the isuzu spindles, mitsu discs and built a plate for the calipers to retain the 4wd and isuzu drivetrain.
the bottom line is that these vehicles are so simple that it provides a good platform for extreme modifications, any questions you have just ask, as we are from a long line of trooper owners

Bigcheif..the Trooper Trinidad community must be quite small and I myself a bit curious about these rock-solid vehicles..do you know what the diff ratios are for the stock local jeeps vs foreign used imports? Is there anyone around with a gearbox for sale? Is there another engine which can mate to the stock local box?..Thanks

Later first-generation models included an option for a four-speed automatic transmission, a V6 engine sourced from General Motors (their 2.8 L pushrod V6), and a combination of 31"x10.5" tires with 4.77:1 differential gears. Standard differential gearing for all 1981-1991 Isuzu Troopers is
4.555:1http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Isuzu-TrooperMost foreign imports carry a larger diff with the 4.77 ratio:
Models from 1988-1991 are equipped with Isuzu 10-bolt 17-spline front IFS differentials and Isuzu 12-bolt live rear axles with 4-wheel disc brakes. Also new for 1987 were new rectangular headlights, a departure from the earlier round sealed-beam type lights.
If you are in the market for a Diesel gearbox for the trooper (higher ratios and more stout than the gas box) i still know of a few [between $3.5k and $4.5k]. This was the 5 speed box we had on the C223 diesel engine and was rock solid. When combined with the 4.555 (local gas) diff its great on the highway. As for mating to the stock G200 box i'm not sure, never explored that option as it came locally as a 4 speed.

no joke the trooper is a real fighter
got a 1988 one with the c223 turbo engine
but i hav reason to believe the turbo is not boosting much

Best way to know is to attach a boost gauge. The original turbo on the c223 is too large in my opinion, and comes in way too late. It makes it feel as if there is no low-end power. My trooper has the 4JB1-T and i have the same problem, but it pulls great once it gets going.
