First time euro buyer

So I'm about to enter into the euro world with a 2001 vw polo classic. Mileage just over 100k. Transmission already replaced, as well as new door locks. Cons are rear brake pads, a grey mix in the radiator (supposing head gasket), front power windows. If I undertake this buy what kind of funds would I have to keep in hand for maintenance? Also where to get some of the parts? Have had euro before (volvo) but first time for a vw. All advice would be appreciated

Funds... I would say at least $20,000 (inclusive of import duties and shipping). Lol.
Timing belt and water pump.
Oil filter.
Head Gasket kit with new bolts.
Was the transmission oil filter changed?
Thermostat/ harness.
The list may go on since it is a 2001 variant.
