Spark Plug Cross reference - 1.4TSI

Postby EcoTune Trinidad » September 28th, 2014, 4:14 am

So was comparing OEM plugs in our motors and which cross reference we can use by DENSO & NGK Iridium....seeing as factory plugs are platinum..

The below represents the REVISED OEM NGK Platinum part number 03C905601B (SIZFR6B8EG) and OEM DENSO equivalent DENSO Tough VKB20. These DENSO can supposedly last up to 100,000km as you will see in a picture further down..

See the differences on Electrode Tips with explanation...

The below image shows DENSO Iridium Power and DENSO Iridium Tough part# 's & stock number part 3371 which can be used to search online. Please understand the differences between DENSO Iridium POWER & DENSO Iridium TOUGH which are OEM replacements for IRIDIUM versus DENSO (platinum) OEM which are part# VKB20.

The below shows the oem gap in mm....

This one shows the differences between DENSO Long Life Part# & DENSO High Performance Part#. The below is a general illustration and are not to be confused with the part# discussed here.

For our engines, if one decides on remapping their engines in addition to adding bolt on mods to increase performance further beyond say 230hp, you may consider going up a cooler heat range number 7 ONLY if you get misfires. This needs to be taken into consideration based on our recently increase ambient temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius, but personally I think we should be ok as the factory cooling circuit is efficient enough to cope...

I have noticed the 2.0TSI in the Tiguan uses cooler spark plugs as they produce more heat than our 1.4tsi...cruising temps are 120 deg Celsius...If you drive aggressively you can see as high as 140 deg Celsius..

Good thread cuz finding alternative spark plugs so far has been a pain. I got new spark plugs at the dealer and the part number has been changed to 03C905601B which is Ngk spark plug part no. sizfr6b8eg.

I have yet to find alternatives to this plug. The gap is supposedly down to 0.7 mm now as opposed to 0.8 mm with 03C905601A. All the alternatives seem to be for 03C905601A only.

Oh ok ok that's not bad at all for genuine plugs! And the link has some good info. Kinda shocked at the person putting super in their jetta though....I hope they sell that care after a year or two.:???:
