Hi All, i am contemplating buying a roro e90 320i and wanted to know the following info.
General Pros and Cons
Is it worth getting Idrive? (can the language settings be changed easily)
Will the parts on ebay that are mainly for left hand drive vehicles be able to be used on RHD.
Is there a digital temperature readout in the middle of the instrument cluster? (i googled this and got mixed answers)
I did some research but will also like some local opinions

What's your on the road amount? I have been toying with this idea myself. The Idrive is easy to find in Japan but out of England not so much on the 320s. Keep us up posted with this.

e90's....
Pros
- Does not look outdated [The RORO ones i've see all look like 2007/2008 models though)
- Build quality is great....its a BMW
- Really comfortable on long drives [seats are comfy]
- Good around corners
Cons
- Probably the slowest 2L engine ever
- Feels heavy [no wonder its slow]
- Not really exciting, but good comfortable for A-B travel
Thats about it, i never saw a RORO with iDRIVE though.
Good luck mane.

Mostly on point....ours is a good A-Ber..... we got it tuned by Ecotune...Nathan did a great job extracting that extra 18whp which helps.
But its a all-round lovely car. Just dont expect "Fyahz" power from it. Its a realible car.

Banzai you all got it RORO? What was the on the road price? If it wasn't for MVT 330 would be the best bet. The 320i Msport is damn near impossible to find which is a tuned down version of the WTCC and BTCC Spec cars if I remember correctly.

5 Series is a sweet looking car indeed, I do prefer the older shape ones though same withe 3 Series. They look a bit meaner.

that was the deciding factor in my purchase of a local 525i....meaner look and sports mode is great....recently switched to super...no issues. Monitoring her....plan is injector clean yearly...change fuel filter every 2 years...parts are cheap online...loving the car....

Our xtrail has similar structures for the reverse camera and for the auto dimming function.

Still no answer to changing the language on the i-drive. Some RORO dealers say its best to bring out of England and not Japan, because of the language translations, what else apart from idrive needs to be changed?

Is it possible to update it with a UK I drive system?

Who was after the 320i M Sport model... yoy wanted 2dr or 4dr. There is available for RORO. On the road cost you looking at roughly $233000 TT
Also changing language on idrive to English permanently is a very difficult task. Check bimmerfest forums.

i have heard a couple horror stories recently with euro imports imported from the uk and japan. Ecu software is different to the local models, emission controls in the cars tend to cause some problems overtime. I know one m5 had serious overheating problems recently. I got my dealer maintained euro locally instead and the price i paid played a major factor. Just be very cautious as i have gone to check a few local euros with what was said to be low mileage and upon verifying the mileage with a link in the company it appeared a couple of them have been tampered with!

Guys what kind of battery would you recommend? Does the ecu have to be re calibrated after a battery changeout?

Bit of an update. We changed quite a few parts in the car over the past few months including:
Con's
Radiator
Front and Rear ROtor discs
Valvetronic Server Motor
Transmission Solenoid (to solve a transmisson jerking issue/jerked forward when coming to a complete stop.)
Pro's
I take back what i said about the car being lazy. After we changed the Valvetronic Server motor, the car came alive....as in i put the audi down and drive the e90 more now...the BMW N43 has alot of potential tuning wise.

to be fair when we got the car it was hardly driven...once per week as far as the previous owner said... so regular maintenance wasnt on thier radar... the car is a 2006 car and we got it with 70K.... i kid you not.
So now that the car is being driven since 2013...like daily... its doing what it should be doing...asking for "milk"
dont mind... cuz i really dont see us parting with it anytime soon....

I can relate to that. When i bought my e46 the last owner was a spit and shine car everyday and dont go anywhere kinda guy. When i bought it the very next day i blew two coil packs on the beetham. Then my dad had a routing drive everyday for his e46. One day we jacked it up and the shocks got stuck in full open position. Lack of use. These car built for running. Not a pet
