Looks good. Bears more resemblance to its Audi and Porsche counterparts

Having trouble deciding on a VW Tiguan using super gasoline and a Subaru Forester for safety, and premium gas.. whats your take?

Tiguan Tsi engines require premium fuel

Why do you say the Subaru is safer?
I haven't been too impressed with Subaru's interiors. I find the plastics feel cheap and lack the solid feel of the VW. (This was based on a Tribeca).
Only issue I have with the Tiguan is the small trunk. Yeah you can fold down the rear seats for more room. But it's still too small next to the Touareg and even Passat.

They will function on super. With less power and economy

Subaru is a good car, but too expensive to own and maintain. Spend the money and buy the Tiguan
( you will get the added cool factor)

They are not suppose to run on anything below 95RON....the compression is 10.5/11.1 and turbocharged..and if you do run it on super...kiss your valvetrain goodbye; you are prematurely wearing it out in addition to putting wear on the piston rings...98ron is recommended....but 95ron is required for those engines as thats what we get...
I work closely with these engines so I know what I speak of

Subaru really more costly to maintain than a VW?

Probably just as expensive...but they feel so flimsy (based on experience with a Tribeca).
Family member has a PCR Tribeca... vibration from transmission from day one (1st to 2nd gear) and they've never been able to diagnose or fix it. Transmission problem the other day and vehicle wouldn't move, and cost to repair thru massy was 18k (just to repair the transmission, not to replace). It was just out of warranty so they didn't charge for it.
Judder still there.. not impressed

Hmmm it seems like the best auto techs may have better training than the subaru techs. BA always have their guys heading to mexico for training.
Worries me was considering either a wrx or the gti as the next purchase and was leaning to WRX ...

I'd go with the GTI easily. However I'm not too happy with BA's current service setup, and I don't see Massy's being much better.
Have you checked out the WRX yet though?

Yeah test drove it last week! Interior will not match up to the GTI, feels a bit cheap. Ride is stiff, wife was a little uncomfortable in the back but still has sufficient damping. But it shines in driving feel, feels solid and planted on the road. Car has scary acceleration, CVT is great, feels almost dual clutch, engine breaking and all.

Well it's probably not going to be a family car!
Don't feel I could go back to the Japs thought. The vehicles just seem to lack that extra Euro refinement.
Doesn't the GTI have the adaptive suspension settings?
Is the CVT really as smooth as the DSG?I definitely can't go back to traditional slushbox auto

Local GTI coming with 17's (rest of world get 18's standard), nil adaptive suspension, nil performance pack. At least thats what they told me.
Shifts are just a fraction slower than dsg but barely detectable, I think quoted figures are around 490 milliseconds to shift. All simulated gears, so is S# you get 8 gears and S and I modes you get 6

Depends on who you speak to.. You should still be able to special order some features though.
I know it used to come with 18" Detroit wheels (wasn't a fan) and the 2013 spec had some with a decent amount of kit (hence the price).
