E39 BMW- wheel size upgrades

Postby nyo » August 8th, 2011, 1:22 pm

what is considered the largest wheel (stagerred) size that could be used on this vehicle

I am considering a set of 20'' or 22''
but i would like some opinions from owners.

and what is the correct size of the wiper blade??
24'' x 22''
26'' x 22''

I believe they can take up to 18" wheels(so says the little sticker on the door post). Wisely consider losing the comfort ride and the save on suspension you get with the stock wheel size. I am looking at 20" wheels for my e39.
This matter should be addressed my mr. TriniVdub.

with stock suspension u could go with 19x9.5 in the rear with out rolling the fenders. to go 19x10 or bigger u will need to roll them. on the fromt u could use 19x9 again without rolling larger or wider and u will have to roll. allthough the e39 has a very strong front suspension with our roads u still looking at shorter life span for ur parts. i would suggest u go with the 19" and some lowering springs which would give the look and save the parts. by the way the offset is 15 to 20.

i have an e39 540i and just put on 19X8.5 w/offset 15 in the front and 19X10 w/offset 20 in the rear. the front fit fine no issues but the rear gave some problems and i had to roll the fenders and set the camber to -2deg to avoid any rubbing. running 245 35 on the front and 275 30 on the rear. they really fill the fenders well but after changing the shocks the ride height has increased in the front so i am now looking at coilovers to get back the agressive look. and the grip is amazing i just cant spin those rears at all.
