^^ that's not fully loaded. The comand system by itself is a $20K+ option. Useless in Trinidad.

fanatic1, give them a call, or go into the showroom.

it depends on what u want....

a C-class - 250 - 1800cc sport with command, bluetooth and ipod) could cost $582,000
a C-class - 300 - 2500cc (i think) sport with command, bluetooth and ipod could cost $690,000.

a C-class - 180 - 1800cc sport without command would be around $400K depending on the other options that you take.

True, but you will have a heavier car, therefore slower car; And its Not a BENZ, its a VW.
:D Don't get me wrong, I love all euro cars, but sometimes, from a cost ratio, it doesn't make sense to spend so much money in a car, and when you sit in it, you see parts that are the same fom a bettle, its just not a nice feeling.

so from your statement your saying that even though I'm in a lamborghini or bugatti veyron or bentley GT that I'll still be driving a VW

If thats the case then the same can be said about Mercedes in the end its just a Chrysler (aka the same company who makes the neon) :?

You are completely missing the point. Since VW AG owns all those brands, and the lower ones are VW, Skoda, Audi (A4, A6) then to keep the cost down they use similar interior and exterior parts, including suspension, engine, and interior products such as the indicator stalk. Lambroghini, and the other higher ends share little or nothing at all with the lower marques, because thier cost is much higher.

The same can be said for certain models of the Chrysler, during the time Chrysler and Mercedes were joined. Such as the E-Class platform which was used for the 300C or the supercharged 3.2L used in the SRT-6 was the old SLK 32AMG engine. No parts from Chrysler was ever used in Mercedes products.

The difference is parts from Mercedes went down to be introduced into Chrysler, compared to VW parts were used in the higher marques such as Skoda, and Audi.

So, back to the point. When you sit in an A6, it has parts from VW. Period.

When you sit in a Mercedes, it is a Mercedes. Period.

When you sit in certain Chryslers, it tries to feel like a Mercedes, because it has some parts, but it will never be one.

^^ I understand what you are saying, yes some parts are shared between some of the platforms but not all as you make it out to seem.

The C6 A6 for example shares no parts with any current VW other than the 2.0 TFSI and 3.2FSI engines, however the 2010 phaeton would be obtaining parts from the C6 when its released.

Actually they share quite a lot. Some examples, the cruise control stalk used in some GTIs was used in the 997 series. The VW Phaeton share a lot of components with Bentleys and some Porsches. The Touarag not only shares the same chassis as the Cayenne but also a number of parts, Audi A8s share a lot of components with the Lamborghini Gallardo, and the DSG technology used and developed by VW is shared across the entire range from the Bugatti veyron to lamboghini and porsche.
In addtion, the technolgy behind the Veyron's engine is based on VW's VR-6 motor, so for you to sit there and think having VW parts in your car is bad then I guess everyone has their own opinion. But know this the VAG group is way ahead of the competition when it comes to engineering and development.

And since when was skoda a "higher" marque?

I think you are missing my point completely:

The Porsche Cayenne was developed by Porsche and then used for the Touarag.

The Gallardo Engine and chassis was developed by for Lamborghini and then used for Audi A8.

The DSG Gearboxes where developed by Porsche and then Handed down to the VAG to distribute among its marques.

The Phaeton Chassis was developed especially for the Phaeton and the Bentley at the same time. (D1 Chassis).

I am not sitting here stating that having VW parts its bad, but I am sitting here stating that if I am going to pay 400k and north, then I don't want to sit in a cheaper car and see the same indicator stalk or, same engine, or even the same stereo system.

I love VW, but I find Audi cars are over priced for what you can essential get in a VW.

U just restated my point, thanks. As for the DSG it was actually designed by Borgwarner then licensed by the Volkswagen Group. It doesn't matter where the designs come from the fact is that it all filters down to the various makes and models consisting of the VAG Group, why because in the end its all owned by the same company, so you can be assured of a well thought of design, granted that the earlier VW and Audi models had their flaws, but so did early model Mercedes and BMW's.

Its all about being cost effective, perhaps if Mercedes took some notes they would not be currently owned by Daimler AG.

The cost effectiveness can be done at such a large scale when the company, such as VAG, has the resources to interchange and exchange parts/tech from throughout its entire line up from VW to Bentley. Especially when they are on the course to be the leading (No. 1) car manufacture in the world.

Daimler AG is the parent company, but the Daimler AG was formed when they took over Chrysler, as the history with Mercedes goes, its always been a partnership with Daimler and Benz, since the beginning of the 1900's.

In the end, for the same money you will go for an Audi and I will go for a Benz, difference of opinions and that is fine.
