VW Headliner fallin

Postby TriniVdub » January 18th, 2008, 9:53 pm

Well having my car sit around for about 7 months out of the year my headliner is finally taking a beating from the sun. The material is beginning to drop. I have a MK4 2dr GTI does anyone know a good fabric guy or interior detailer or whatever u call them, that can fix this problem for me and would i be able to reuse my headliner or would it need replacing? The material itself is in perfect condition except thats its drooping.

I have a VW bora...same problem... had to be replaced, the upholsterer said the sponge between fabric and the hard board was disintegrating...so it could not be fixed

A guy called Carl Chan did mine a couple weeks ago in curepe.

Did a real good job....dropped her off in the morn and picked her up after work.

Costed $600.00 including fabric (which he aquired and was very close to stock) to do mine.

When you do the upholstery for the headliner, make sure to have them use the the glue that works well in the tropical climate (high temperature adhesive). They glue that manufacturers use were for north American and Auropean climates.

If you are replacing the headlining, you can check out a company called Stock Interiors - http://www.stockinteriors.com/ They also do molded flooring.

there are two other places Auto Village in El Socorro $1650+vat (too dam expensive)
And the first upholstery place when you enter from the highway on the right hand side $1200
