Good friend of mine got one (replacement to the E90 we bought off of them).... if you interested in getting teh power that the M Spec comes with... let me know....simple programming. The engines are tuned to the spec jsut below the M....but its de-tuned via programming.

Trust me.... once all the power is untapped...an amazing car.....

Can the stock engine and pistons safely handle the extra power?

I pay to drive and corner hard in a controlled environment. The antics I can get up to in 1st and 2nd gear in ARC car park cannot be done safely and responsibly on public roads.
I have no delusions about solodex eh
Anyone asks me, I tell them we play around in a car park...I have never told anyone I race...you've seen my cars; nobody would believe me if I said I race

It's been at Best Auto since August 20th because the alternator needs to be replaced. The alternator cost a shocking $9,000 - this does not include labour, just the part. The alternator needs to be special ordered so I place my down payment. I got a call 2 weeks later stating the alternator has reached. By this Friday 18th September, it will be 2 weeks and they haven't even touched the car yet to work on it. It still sits in front of the Best Auto dealership, and they still cannot give me an answer to when they will start working on it.

Needless to say, I would think twice about buying another VW in Trinidad again.

Oh, the reason it's taking so long is because they have other cars to work on and haven't reached mine yet. How long again before they open up more service centers?

Just an update. I still haven't gotten the car back yet. It turns out when they installed the alternator that it wasn't actually the alternator causing the problems. The problem apparently was the Viper remote start that I had privately installed by another party which wasn't done properly as the person didn't solder back the wires and just used electrical tape instead. This caused the body control module to malfunction thus causing the problem with my car.

This week would make it 4 weeks since I have another down payment ($5k) for the body control module. I got a call today that the part hasn't shipped yet because their over seas supplier doesn't have it in stock and they are uncertain when it would be available. But when it does ship it would take approximately 1 week plus some extra days for customs to clear it.

Funny thing is, I am renting a car right now because the VW was my only car and since BA doesn't give courtesy car I had to rent which altogether might cost more than the cost to fix my car.

I'm not buying another VW in Trinidad again. Are all dealerships here like this? Why is it when a part goes bad, it takes almost a month for them to procure and shouldn't they have some in stock in their inventory? This is Neal and Massy we are talking about.

For future reference, what is the best dealership in terms of customer service to purchase a car from in this country? Or are they all this bad?

Anyways I have learnt my lesson. I will not modify my car or pay anyone to tune, modify or install aftermarket parts on my car in Trinidad again. Apparently I can't find anyone that knows what they are doing here.

My car has been there since August 20th 2015 and it's now November 3rd 2015.

Had you consulted BA Motors before attempting to "modify" the electrics?

What's your pointman?

Does anyone here ever consult BA before modifying their VW's?
And even so, BA doesn't even know what it's doing half the time so I doubt that info would have been helpful anyway. Case in point: misdiagnosed alternator problem.

Andy did you at least do some research online about the system's compatibility with your car?

At least to get their point of view on such alteration, then to check various VW online forums.

From what he explained in his post, I hope the warranty wasn't voided.

I never mess with the factory immobilizer on a euro....a couple reasons: nobody steals them, aftermarket alarm gizmos can cause all sorts of dramas, not many installers know how to mess abuot with euro electronics....and seriously, all that drama just for remote start?

Regarding spare parts, I dunno how ppl tolerate this rubbish....I can buy all sorts of parts on ebay and get them here in two weeks, and dealers take months?
Trinis always fail to put pressure on dealerships

Looks like the remote start fried the control module from what he is saying.

If his has key or keyless ignition is another question.

I good oui...whatever the factory installed, staying there....aftermarket remote start and all dem fancy ting eh worth the potential complications
Only thing I ever mess with was the factory configuration for unlocking, so it's one press to unlock driver's door, a second press for the rest of the car

With the E39, I am going to change the code settings so that the mirrors will fold out when the car is started and fold in when switched off.

With the Clio, too much to talk about but this was done after consulting Renault UK and my buddies in the UK.

Didn't the Jettas come with an ultrasonic alarm?

For once I wouldn't be upset with BA. The mods I do without consulting them are mods I do knowing that if something goes wrong it's on me.

Also the mods that a lot of people do are pretty common that info is readily available online. Viper remote? The guys doing the install don't know how it affects many newer cars.

I don't disagree with you.. and even andy22 admitted that the guys didn't install it properly

But you know my experience with BA has instilled anything but confidence in the techs working there.

No, I didn't consult them. Lesson learnt on my part, I'm never modding my car again. Hindsight is 20/20, if I knew installing a remote start would cause such a big problem I would have never done it. It is my fault for not consulting them before having someone install it but why does it take so long for parts to come? 3 weeks for alternator then another 2 weeks for them to work on installing the alternator. Then another month for the body control module to be ordered and it hasn't even shipped yet?

Why not get the part number and bring in the part yourself? I am sure it will be cheaper and faster than waiting for BA.

Lots of good VW group parts places in the states that will help you find what you need.

Bcm for our Jettas not available in the US unfortunately. Dealers there can't order parts not for their region.
