@ Bunny

My Jetta is a 2012 got it May 2012...

@ Ecotune

Nope no heavy traffic....

They never gave me a cost because they say my car is under warranty so they will be replacing it for free.

@ drchaos so no cost to me

Ever since I got the car I was telling them about a rattle under the car and they keep saying nothing wrong etc..and that is how the gearbox does make noise but is nothing to worry about etc..

Oh well, I still love my Jetta!

When I had to change my tire the security nut was ridiculously hard to remove tried and tried but eventually got it. A friend had to call motor assist with his tiguan cause it wouldn't budge.

Morning guys..

Could I ask a question here? Why are you all doing spring work locally instead of buying the springs originally made for lowering etc? I am just wondering for when I am ready to do mine...

I really find that our Jettas really look good on lower springs!

There are no oem lowering springs for the jetta. You can get aftermarket lowering springs or use oem golf lowering springs.

I don't understand what you mean by why we are doing spring work locally? As in locally made lowering springs?

Seemed he just means the "actual work" itself. He's not referring to local-made springs.

I bought OEM Golf/Jetta MK5 Lower springs from a VW firm in the US and had it installed by a local vw mechanic. Could have tried it myself but its a lot of work and I did not wish to do that..

I chose it over an aftermarket lowering springs setup because aftermarket ones tend to have a more dramatic drop.. Also a linear spring type makes the setup more predictable and that is what the oem ones offered.

On the other hand manually altering springs for a drop in ride height is just dangerous and changes the handling dynamic of the car greatly. Its not recommended.

In all I reallly like the lowered springs and handling of the car now.. just be wary of it when braving those bad roads, pavements and humps. If you are thinking of lowering your jettas, I say you cant go wrong! (unless your just scraping the road lol)

I never really liked the idea of lowering a car.. It looks good on some cars, yes.. But I just can't stand the rough ride. Feeling every bump in the rode. Every depression in the asphalt and all occupants in the car bouncing up and down like a couple bobble-head dolls inside.. Looks dumb if ya ask me. Lol.

When lowering it's not supposed to be bumpy like that. If done properly the ride is marginally bumpier if not the same as stock, the car handles better. Ideally when lowering you should change your dampers as well to avoid the things you just described.

Taking recommendations for an aftermarket spring set and dampers. I've been looking at ones on ECS Tuning

Yep..Thats what I meant guys..thanks, we have all angles of the discussion now...hehe. Yeah i thought you all were going to get the springs done locally and put it on. So I was wondering if there were any OEM or even good aftermarket ones available. Just to save the hassle of any errors etc..because I have seen the results of s"spring work" and after a while because the spring has been cut or another type of spring is in use, the ride becomes bumpier over time and the ride gets worst.

Any thoughts on this..

Have to check you on those paddle shifter things too.

Vortex is the ideal forum to learn about lowering. Look for the thread about driver gear lowering springs. That's what I used on mine. There should be other threads on H&R springs as well as vwr lowering springs. In fact that's 80% of that damn forum. Who can lower the most. Gets old. Air this air that.

US jetta's finally up to spec to the europe and our market!
They getting the same amount of soft touch plastics, independent rear suspension, 1.8T engines with similar figures if not a little more powerful than ours.

@ Bunny

Yeah those springs are good...had a set of comparable Eibach on my Subaru before and the ride was really good.

Thanks will check out the GLi.

Yeah I don't like air suspension but the stance it gave in that pic was a nice look.

It does get old doesn't it.

I installed DG springs on the mk6 and setup the toe and camber settings as best auto's race jetta...the car corners beautifully... Rear toe 0.0 camber -1.5...front toe .17 camber -1.0...don't know how the front even has a camber but I took the inside corner where Cipriani boulvard meets the Savannah at 100km/h....

Truthfully was expecting the rear to drift around the corner as it happened to me before lowering springs; needless to say the rear kept on check....

Set my XDL to aggressive setting and she is real responsive up front

Purple blaster is devil ting. Worked wonders in the engine bay. I have one problem though. There is a belt below the oil filter which I'm sure oil got on. The belt is screeching in pitch in tune with the engine rpm. Very annoying. Not sure if to put grease on the belt or try to use more purple blaster on it.

Anyone who familiar with engines and belts could hopefully chime in on a best practice?
