Today the emissions warning light came on as I was flooring it in second gear (felt sluggish by the way) with three ppl in the car. Car has been using 95 octane for most of its life (except for a few times i threw in some octane booster), as its the only fuel we get. Any one has any thoughts on how to fix this problem or what could cause the light to come on? Is the fuel to blame? Gonna see a mechanic about it soon, but I want to hear what you guys think.

Asked my mechanic about it the same day. He was suggesting the O2 sensor or cat being clogged. Our 95 octane fuel isnt the best for these cars either. Needless to say, the light turned off by itself later the same day. Gonna get the car serviced soon (to help sluggishness?), but in the mean time im throwing in a bottle of stp octane booster and hoping for the best!

Clean MAF sensor. From my experience that makes the biggest difference. Especially if you have a K&N filter it will get dirty quickly.

Thanks Pete. Im using the stock filter. I think the problem was bad gas. The octane booster fixed the hesitation/sluggishness. Ill be thinking twice before going back to that gas station....

Light went out by itself. Definitely a batch of BAD gas. Changed gas station, good to go now. wish we could get 98 at the pump.... a dream in the Caribbean lol.

Without checking the code, its impossible to say what the issue was.
I would love if we could get 98ron as well.
A clogged cat.. the car would have no power and may overheat.
