Violent Shaking/Vibration after 70km/h on SSS

Postby NLVA200 » September 8th, 2013, 9:04 am

Fellow Suzuki enthusiasts,

I have a problem which has gotten progressively worse during the past month. My car can no longer make any highway run :(

Whenever I accelerate through 70 km/h, the car starts shaking up violently and gets worse as the speed increases. I'm not on the brakes at any point so I don't think it's the rotor. I've spent over 4-5 hours yesterday between 2 tyres shops and confirmed that none of the tyres or rims are bent and I've speed balanced all 4 tyres as well which didn't reduce it in any way.

One person at the shop suggested it might be a mechanical issue. Any thoughts as to what part(s) may be worn or needs to be investigated?

Thanks.

Park vehicle. Take it thru the rpm range to see if it is an engine issue.

Take vehicle for a drive.
Manually select first gear. See if issue occurs.
Manually select second gear. See if issue occurs.
Repeat for third and fourth.

Place vehicle on jack stands. Repeat above process.

This should give you a better idea of what's wrong.

You may have a bad axle.

^^^ My guess is worn CV joint or bad axle as BigZ said. If you have a flat SOLID surface, put the car on four jack stands and take the car through the procedure as described above.....that or on the dyno with your mechanic observing for causes.

OP's car is auto.

my guesses...................... in cheaper fixes first.
stabiliser bar rubbers (clamp to body)
steering rack
cv joints / axles.

Turned out to be the inner tripod on the left axle. Lifestyle doesn't have this part by itself and only sells the complete axle for $7100. I managed to get the little parts inside repaired though (not by lifestyle) and cost me $400 in total.

Up to now, Lifestyle never decided to see if this part could be the root of the problem. They were certain last week it was a bent tyre :|

you got it sorted at constant velocity i take it?
your experience further reminds me of why i really don't want a new car.

It so unfortunate how some local manufacturers/employees care for their own brand an encourages
mis informed unecessary spending and some a negative approach before you even walk into the service dept. Glad you got through tho. Just a little attention to your ride
and closer observation and your fix was sorted.
