My cousin has a 2013 T6 (2.2 XLT local) Ranger. One week ago the left rear door latch stopped closing - so the door is now unable to be closed.
We went to the dealership on Saturday (Jan 26) in Chag to be told that they have 39x units on order.. and told to check back on Monday as to when they might receive them (at ~$1500 each).. When contacted this week - we've been told that 'maybe' by end of February they will receive the parts...

After some searching online - I found an article written in Nov 2018 (only two months ago) where Ford Australia, as well as Ford Philippines is issuing a recall on Rangers made between 2011 - 2015 (85,863 Rangers !!!) that are affected by the same issue where a faulty spring pawl tab may break causing the door to not close - presenting a serious safety risk. Does anyone out there have or know of this issue?

I am sure that the McAL dealership will remain mum on the recall being issued.

My cousin has contacted a few parts places and used parts dealers through contacts - where one wants to charge $3000 for a used door lock mechanism and have lamented that MANY Rangers are having that problem.
The obvious issue with that is there is absolutely NO GUARANTEE how long the used one will last and the problem will VERY likely occur again.

What course of redress do you think we have with the firm here to get this issue addressed?

I had the same problem 2 years ago with the front passenger side door. I got a lock to purchase from Foots in Penal for about $1200. Today I am having the same issue again with my rear (left) passenger door. Right now in search of that part and not getting anywhere? Did you have any luck in getting yours resolved? Someone told me to check someone who repairs motorized door locks but the first time it happened and we took out the lock, it was a machine sealed lock and no way to open it....trying to figure out what to do now...

I tried contacting the Ford global group the first time this happened and was very displeased with the service as they said they have no control over other countries dealers with regards to recalls.

No, I have not contacted them as yet, but on the Ford ranger group in Trinidad it seems as though a lot of the vehicles have the same issue and the company isn’t doing anything except selling the part at a ridiculous cost. It $3500 from Ansa, $3200 from Mazda brand new. There are foreign used dealers and scrap yards selling from crashed vehicles for $2k-$3k, really taking advantage of the poor man....

This is not a wear and tear issue, but a defect.

Unfortunately, I have had to challenge Ansa Motors in the past, where they didn't want to honor warranty.
FYI, list of issues so far: Cooling system, power window actuator, Transmission gear shifting, power steering, stereo malfunction, etc, etc. In each of these issues I had to battle to get them to fix for free.

I am also going to contact consumer affairs. to see what they can do.

But surely I am not paying $3000+ for a damn door latch.

What has been your outcome so far?

Hey guys anyone experiencing this problem please contact Curtis Ramkissoon at 620-9556. He is also a fellow owner who seeking for the firm to address this problem as there have been multiple international recalls.

There's a guy in Marbella that fixes the locks for 450 and it works perfectly.

He is on union road between the two fens

Good night Tuners, I am now experiencing the same . I’ve a 2013 Ford Ranger and my left rear door isn’t closing . Besides this person in Marabella , I understand that there is also someone from Princes Town who repairs these door actuators. Does anyone have a contact number ? Marabella or Princes Town technician ?

The latch can be repaired, will cost you about $500.00, I did mine and its working great.

As you reach the Trinity Mall lights, turn in and head to the Eastern Main Road. As you reach the main road intersection, turn right and the place is the 3rd building on your left. Derek opens Mon to Fri 08:00hrs to 16:00hrs, Closes on Sat and thankfully Open on Sun 08:00hrs to 12:00hrs (keep in mind the earlier you go the better). Can say Kristian sent you.
