2012 Ford Ranger - Excess Engine Noise

Postby carman12 » May 25th, 2015, 9:14 pm

Guys / Gals,

I figure this question might have been previously asked but searched on the forums as well as on Google and can't locate any similarities or solutions. I have had my van for over a year now and thankfully only doing 11,100km's. Last went in to service at about 10,6000km's, before serviced I noticed the engine had gotten abit louder with regard to engine clatter. After service I noticed everything died down dramatically however, 500km's later and I can hear the noise from the engine increase again.

To specify, starts of nice and idles perfect, van drives like a baby but after driving form Couva to San Fernando and back, before shut-off I notice the noise is heavy. If I go to the grocery and back it sounds like I just rolled out of the show room.

I don't know if this has previously been answered but any advice will be greatly appreciated. Based on the last service, I noticed they adjusted valves (complete service) but unclear if that's the solution and appropriate cause (valves). Is this a common problem or just problem specific to my van?

Owned a 2008 Mitsubishi L200 before with no similarities to this (regarding the noise after driving the mentioned distance).

Again any advice will be greatly aprpeciated as the next service is a few months away.

Regards.

Hey, did you ever get that issue clarified and sorted out? When mine started getting noisy and I went in for service, they updated the ECU and everything has been fine since. This was over a year ago. I'm now doing 65000 km. Everytime I go for service I ask them to check for software updates for both the engine and transmission.

mitsu4ever thanks for the advice, last time I went in they had adjusted the valves (or so the report stated) and everything was alot quieter. Fast forward to present and noise, not sure if this is normal but when I ask I am told it's due for servicing.

I am due for a servicing soon so i'll ask about the update thing and see if it helps.
