HELP NEED MECHANIC FOR BJ!

Tuners,

Heres my story:

I was driving down the highway at around 6ish and it was getting dark, so i turned on my headlights. Immediately after turning it on the car had cut off *DEAD*, but still rolling and still in DRIVE. My reaction was to turn back of the headlights, and i did, following which the car came back alive, and drove me to home..not to well after though.

The next morning it coudnt start until i borrowed someone's battery..I then carried it to the autoelectrician n they told me that battery had a dead cell..so i changed the battery (they checked the alternator and said that its charging properly).

So that was the preamble. Ever since that incident, the car has lost all it power, i.e. i'm only seeing the RPM go up and the car's bearly moving..and previously it use to get like 170ish on the HW, now its struggling to make a 140.

Anyone has any suggestions as to what may have went wrong? or may have a suggestion of a GOOD and RELIABLE mechanic that i may go by?

Thanks

Yogi

its a MAZDA 323 BJ

- Year?
-Mileage?
-any mods?
-ZM or ZL engine?

Get it scanned ASAP!!!

Have you ever changed any sensors on the vehicle?
So you run your car @17kmh? What transmission oil do you use?
When last you serviced the vehicle..eg. Plugs, eng oil, tranny oil, air filter....

Change your transmission oil to Redline D4 ATF. Maztune on the mazda forum is a dealer.
BTW have you ever encountered the problem again?
What gas do you use?
You ever cleaned your throttle body & EGR valve? If not please do so asap!
Get the car scanned, I not too sure but the RPM probs can be linked to a bad tranny or bad TPS
Try another auto electrician, let him know what happened.....Hear his diagnosis.
Keep us posted!

A bad knock sensor does not give a CEL. When you try to accelerate you see RPM's rise but no power....knock sensor retarding timing.....But I see you already changed it, that's why i was thinking it could be an intermittent prob with the TPS

You ever adjusted the idle air screw? If not.....DON'T
If adjusted wrong, it can lower top speed & give bad fuel consumption.
yogstr1, start by using Redline D4 ATF in your tranny!!!

Last resort (Try another ECU)
