hey tuners i'm pretty new to this forum, but I am looking into buying a 3rd gen. Honestly speaking I will dig (modify) at some point but I was informed that everyday driving is trouble as it will be my only car. (btw i currently drive a starlet). Any info will greatly be appreciated I need more

drove my 1st gen every day for a yr and a half turbo, not impossible but not very practical if you have a stubborn right foot, out of boost just like any other turbo vehicle nice to moderate, the same goes for in boost - heh just like any other turbo vehicle gonna be a bit thirsty but with more fun.

I agree with Nigel, it's very easy to use a RX for a daily driver. You just need to ensure as usual pay attention to your temp and it's your driving style that determines the car's thirst...
I did 2nd gen RX-7, RX-2 RE and 1st gen with 12a bridgeport...all daily drivers...
But I must ask...you drive a starlet and switching to a 3rd gen...how come?
I mean...that is most definitely a big upgrade...

my 3rd gen drives very well... d car would use a lot of gas if u drive hard all the time...i love to drive it and i use it most of the time...the main tings u have to watch out for is high temps and detonation...but once u have a proper radiator an good workin fans den u on..

Yes ImamurA, I agree with you...good cooling is critical, firstly, invest in a nice rad , like Koyo , Fluidyne or Godspeed etc. WITH PROPER COOLANT which ever fits your pocket. I would secondly look at upgrading the Intercooler. Maybe run some colder plugs like 9's all round should be good, once you're not getting any 'hard-starting' problems.

Oh and btw make sure you check that car out thoroughly...so search through the Mazda section and make sure you're up to speed on what to look for...you want to enjoy your car

I use my car very often and at one point a daily driver for 2 months....
i have no problems at all!...the only upgrade made to my car is metal rad with PROPER coolant...thats it (My car is totally stock btw) My car is the 280bhp version so the lower versions might get better MPG
gas can be on the heavy side but it all depends on how you drive. It takes about $280-$300 to full and I would get 300k with that mixed driving.
The gas gauge really goes down when the second turbo comes online...you will get better mileage with longer highway runs rather than stop go city runs.
