Called two places so far:

Dollar Savers have KYB for $230 front and $285 rear.

Lange Trinidad has Tokico $514 front and $417 rear.

Can anyone give a review of the KYBs from Dollar Savers? I find the price sounds too cheap.

Thanks

Works just as excellent as the original running it 6 months now that's the rear

You feel no vibration from the steering wheel? Check engine mounts and everything belt driven, make sure nothing is loose. Also try to determine what RPM range the vibration is most severe. Switch to tip, drive slowly in 2nd or 3rd to figure it out. If you need to pick up speed before the vibration is felt, then it's linked to road speed, not RPM.

Correction everyone.
Dollar Savers has LUKE Shock Absorbers for the front of the Mazda 3 for $230. And Not KYB. I knew that price was too cheap.

Ended up buying Tokico from Lange Trinidad.

i would always go kyb excel g shocks or the oem.

never get a generic kyb or tokico. You want that wonderful drive, performance and smooth bounce when you driving.

http://www.amazon.com/KYB-343412-Excel- ... a+3+shocks

You get a beautiful ride and the shocks are going on 4 years, no leaks or issues. Works perfectly.

This thread was made to ensure when people buying parts, we recommend only the best. Parts they can race in and even love the car more. Parts we test ourselves so it pass our mark in quality..

I reading some comments here for awhile and i just smh.. times i am wrong and i'll admit.

I tested 5w 30 Castrol edge and 5w 30 Shell ultra helix. Previously i've recommend 5w 40. Its a bit high but i got no problems that i can analyze and notice.

So i proceeded with the for testing and the 5w 30 does indeed start up more faster but from what i've tested its the 5w 30 Castrol that boots up faster than the shell ultra. Durability wise it keeps up the same consistency up to 10,000 km.

I use the OEM mazda 3 Filter bought from the firm. If you can't afford the Shell Ultra 5w 30. Go with the 5w 30 Castrol Edge. Great Performance!

Good day bro

Please tell us mileage so we can help u abit on what to go... Anyway i'll answer your questions.

just wanted to know if there is anything i should look out for in particular

Look for Rear Disk Brakes. Avoid the Rear Drum Brakes. Mazda cars have alot of speed, the drum brakes are hazard on these cars which will cause accidents when driving fast and then stopping.

Rain Sensor or Light sensor. If it doesnt have it, its okay. But it can be nice.

Ask him when and if he have ever changed the Cabin Filter, the transmission oil, the end links, quality of Oil Filter used (oem or aftermarket), shock quality (kyb excel g/ oem?), ever flushed the coolant, ever bleed the brakes, has the fuel filter ever been changed?

any know problems with the car

Most people complain of the horrible fuel consumption due to bad maintenance of the vehicle. Please use the oem Mazda 3 oil filter, change air filter and use synthetic oil such as Castrol Edge or Shell Ultra every 10,000 km. Another is the braking. It was solved in the later model with rear disk brakes.

The rear camber. Its somewhat rarely problematic at best. Its not truly adjustable. But its fine. Hopefully a next member goes in detail about the camber in the rear.

any advice on maintenance and what the general time frame and cost is.

If your car can use super. USE IT. Mine can as it states in the manual.

Every 30k or 40k please flush transmission fluid. Redline. Also replace cabin filter every 30 to 40k for proper AC.

Fuel Filter changed every 50k. Most people go up to 60k.

Rotate, Speed Balance, and Align tires every 10,000km. Change oil, air filter also. Check air pressure on tires weekly at night. Its written on the driver side door the pressure sizes. Mine are 33 infront and 32 in the rear.

Lube hinges on doors, trunk and bonnet every 10,000km. I use Super Lube.

Ahhh.. The Throttle Body... The truly varies when to clean but don't ignore this. I recommend at 80,000km. Maybe earlier. Might need more advice from people on the forum.

Don't have a manual ....I used castrol 20w 50 in the past

So I decided to go with the 15w 40 royal purple because of the pressure I was putting with the 20w 50

Watching the manual 15/40 would actually be ideal for our temperature range but u will get better performance from 10/30

Correct on both counts.

I actually use 15w50 in mine for max protection, since my car is usually in lots of heavy traffic in the sweltering heat. Protection over performance for me.

But that chart actually shows anything from 10w30 to 20w50 will work with our country's temp range

Even our "sweltering heat" doesn't go over 40c so that 50 body is over kill and will add uneccessary premature wear

Tested for two weeks now. It's definitely better than castrol edge.

Car idles much better and the acceleration is not as noisey as with the castrol edge.

Engine performs much more quiet and efficiently with the shell ultra 5w 30
