I dont recall the trans dipstick having low and high marks (I might be wrong here - the car isn't home and my memory getting old)
I believe its hot and cold level marks, so theoretically the trans fluid doesnt have to be at operatiing temp to get a proper level reading.

Just read through the fsm and yeah what you said about the cool and hot marks on the dipstick is correct. The fsm says to add the new atf up until the cold mark and then adjust after you warm up and run the car. This applies to the FS5A-EL transmission.

Any of you guys actually flushed the oil cooler while replacing the atf though?

Hi Guys - Have a PCE Mazda 3 doing about 70,000 km - company car.

Apparently the oil filter "dropped out" according to the mechanic. Driver drove the car till it cut off :-(

So now I'm looking for an engine for it. It's the Z6 engine.

Any ideas?

Falls in 7-10 year category...so $1350.00.

There is a place in The Bamboo, a little way after 555 Subaru Parts, on the right that has a few Z6 in stock. I can't remember the name though, but they definitely have because I sent to get an oil control valve for a friend and they took it out of one of the engines they have in the floor.

On a related note, would a 2005 model year Mazda 3 with a PCN registration fall into that category as well, or would Licensing Office use the date of registration of 2009 to determine the transfer fee (5 years)?

dredman1...They will be looking at the registration date, not the manufacture date. Have a look at the date and calculate, because PCN could fall under 2-5 years or 5-7 years depending on the date of registration and those are $4500.00 and $3000.00 respectively.

OK so they use the date of registration, and not the date of manufacture, to determine "age".

Thanks for clarifying.

Besides S/Sales, anyone know where locally I can get a driver's side wing mirror (the glass only) to buy?

^^^EDIT
Ended up needing to get the entire mirror assembly. The entire frame was cracked. But the new assembly doesnt come with the back cover (old cover was lost)
So looking for the wing mirror cover now. If anyone knows where I might find that I'd be grateful!

To actually move it to access the plugs there are 3 bolts holding the assembly down which you'll have to remove (10 or 12mm can't recall offhand) on the front, rear and and extreme left (driver's) side. Once these are removed, just move the whole thing aside and you'll see the coil assembly. Just to remove the coil and swap out the plugs. You may also have to loosen the clamp holding the intake tube on the throttle body to allow the airbox assembly to move further for more room to reach the last plugs (the PITA part).

The trans drain and refill takes just under 3 qts if I recall correctly. 4 qts should be more than enough. DO NOT OVERFILL!

can this filter work on the 1.5l axela?any suggestions on where I can get it at a good price locally? Its about $52 us and I not sure if it makes sense to buy it online.Oh,and is there anywhere else that carries the IAC valve?I'm having the same idle issue on a cold start and thats the only thing left to try, since it can't be serviced.
