Looking into one of these (specifically the 1.5 sedan or hatchback) and wanted to know how easy they are to get parts for. I believe these are the GH and GE models.

Reason I'm asking is because I don't think the local Subaru dealer ever brought the 1.5L models for sale (subject to correction here though).

Not so much body parts, but mechanical parts like suspension (bushings, shocks, sway bar links, wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.), brakes (rotors and pads), CV joints and boot rubbers, oil & air filters, spark plug wires, a/c parts (blower motor, drier, expansion valve etc.), engine sensors (TPS, crankshaft sensor, drive belts), etc. Usual mechanical wear items.

I'm seeing quite a few of these on the road now, but still I don't want to end up with a car I have to fight up with when locating parts for if/when they need changing.

Some previous threads say yes, some say no, so I'm looking for some more clarification.

various places on the forum have parts for them and a 1.5 EL 15 engine is hard to find

Ok. That's sounding like I can't just walk into a parts place and expect to find the most common replacement parts for it

I tried searching online but couldn't source parts for this engine and im not sure if the manufacture recommends super or premium..

the suspension parts are identical for the 1.6L and 1.5L...alot of the sensors are also the same so Massy would have most of the items you need..or you can check The Motorist etc..

and they use Super quite fine

Parts are easy to obtain...

Whats a good engine and transmission swap if the EL15 fails?

Didnt realise Massy sold the 1.6 locally. Thought it was only the wrx and n/a 2.0 models.

So Motorist should have most of the parts. Will give them a call and see what they say

Just to update - I called a couple Motorist outlets.

The first 1 I got no answer. Called a second and the guy said he wasn't sure what they had could work with the 1.5L model, and that I'd have to bring the old parts in to see if it was the same as what they have

Really didn't bother to call around more after that.

If that's the kinda stress I have to go thru if I get one of these cars, I not sure I up for it...

^motorist and massy ssales ppl are bogus..if you didn't buy the car from them they will give you hell...i gave them a chassis number for a fender shield...they sold me a bug eye and insisting it would work....

for genuine parts just call 555 parts in the bamboo...legit and honest....he actually just got a shipment of new OEM parts...also if you need something he can get it from abroad for you in a couple days....

You can get all your parts online for a fraction of the cost. Doing a bit of research and knowing your part number is all you really need.

eBay as well as the 10-15 us Subaru online sites.

Opposed forces for part numbers.

but ADAH a powerseller stocks Subaru OEM parts at great prices...
