Can someone help me out, i have an 03 forester xt the abs and the handbrake light comes on randomly and when u switch off the vehicle and restart it the lights stay off.Only to come on randomly again,had the vehicle scanned by master serv and there was no error code.Checked disc pads ,changed brake fluid and machined rotors but it still happens.ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

it could have air in the brake fluid lines, did they bleed the system properly?

re-check the fluid level

I'm not sure about the ABS though... recheck to see if all are connected

fluid level is good and the brakes are working fine except that the lights keep coming on.The lights were coming on before i changed fluid as well.

check to see if ur brakes are balanced .. and also if all abs sensors are working properly 1 might be faulty... this happened to me a few weeks ago turned out to be a faulty abs sensor .. ( the gear looking thing on the spindle )

i just switched them back from my old spindle.. my sensor is mounted to the spindle... did u notice if it came on when u crossed certain speeds ? i noticed 60,80,100 & 140km ... @ different times .. and only if i crossed tht speed 60 was the normal...

mines does not come on while driving like after i use the brakes and slow down or come to a stop it comes on after that while driving it could be slow or fast or even while i am stopped.

ok well that sounds like some sort of abs failure.. so check the sensors and work up from there..

btw when u scanned vehicle was the abs/handbrake light on stating that there is an error? because if the lights were off then at the time there wasnt an error... only when they are on the vehicle should be throwin codes .. so if u cant find the problem go by them again and make sure the vehicle is showing the error on dash via lights first before scan.. this should pin point the problem better

and another thing if ur abs light is on be careful when braking because this usually means the system is off..

although the MIL is off.... faults are stored under a history section that can only
be erased by the right system.

Was this problem ever solved? I am experiencing the exact problem, had a circuit B error code, cleared it and nothing but still have the ABS and ebrake light on full from start and throughout.

mine was a faulty valve in the abs hydraulic unit.Give ryotech performance a call he did the diagnostic for me.

mines doing the same thing can both lights on all the time now
it really annoying driving with these 2 lights on
