Apart from scanning and suspension check, ensure all power locks are working good. None should be 'lazy'. I would do some research for ur year cuz mine has shown that there are issues with the 2.5 head gasket relating to the design of the block. Lance on the forum is very knowledgeable and helpful. Pm him wrt any concerns u may have.

Anyone ever changed the fuel filter in their bl5 legacy? Where did you get it and how much did it cost?

^^ Not a hard part to get but it is generally considered a non serviceable part. Inspect and change only if you suspect it has been adversely affected.

^^ more than likely it is a MY 09..you can easily verify that on the seat belt tag..Massey typically brought in the ADM model in that spec..which has the luxury trims and supposed to be tuned to work with the 95 RON rather well

Looks like a good buy..just inspect for signs of collision repair etc..observe trans shifting..the '07 - '09 transmission were kinda iffy.. especially from gear 2 to 3 under load

Test drived this car from massy a while back. The transmission had some issues and from my inspection, it looked like it was in an accident on the front end.

Anyone ever tried using a Mishimoto thermostat on their Legacy? The mishi are rated to open at a lower temperature. Sounds good to me since it allows ur engine to remain cooler while giving u a better fuel economy if u condemned the original. Sourcing it might not be as easy as getting the original.

Whats wrong with the OEM?
If your engine runs too cool if im not mistaken more gas is sent to it in order to increase the operating temp. You will burn richer regular.

Thats true...I have two oem and when I install them my fans remain on once the gauge reaches half. Gauges and fans operate as they shud without thermostat. Really want to keep it installed.

Nope....I have a Mishimoto radiator and silicone lower hose. I don't knw why the bottom of radiator remains cold and fans keep running with thermostat installed. Only if I hold a 3000-4000 rpm fans may cut off. The mechanic who did the the timing belt service, with water and oil pumps replacement, said that he doesn't understand why that is happening. I myself tried different methods found on the Internet, including tuner, and mechanics for bleeding the system.

I also have a mishimoto rad. I changed some hoses and clamps including thermostat while i was there this weekend. No issues since. I may be able to assist you with your issue if you'd like.

Damn, sorry to hear your problem not sorted out yet.
Must be bothering you to have such a nice car and not be able to drive it around.

I removed the thermostat. I drove it a bit with the thermostat installed hoping that it would help with the bleeding. Unfortunately it didn't so I removed it after one day.

Spoke to bird when I was there Saturday and he advised that I just leave it out or try an aftermarket TStat with a lower temperature rating since he encountered the problem with other Subarus and opted to omit them from cooling system. Subaru parts retailer refuses to sell me an aftermarket TStat cuz he is adamant that the oem TStat that he sold me is nt the problem. Am indifferent on his position.

Really happy for u guys who don't encounter this situation cuz I can't help but to keep tumbling my mind to figure out what is the cause of this occurrence.

Remove the name of the person refusing to sell you, might warrant a delete.

You have me boggling my brain as to what the problem might be.
