^^^^nah,it'll be hard to get one under 16000US...and if you do get one..most likely the mileage would have been altered ....... genuine low mileage vehicles in japan are expensive

WOW!!! Now we talking Legacy language....

The GT manual is the same HP though, so make sure it's worth it like the guys said; under US$16kcif.

It would be a lot more cost effective to buy the M/T GT; IMO…

ALL M/T Legacy models come with 280bhp. This includes the Manual GT, Manual Spec-B and STi.

Spec-B Legacies do NOT come 6 forward. The ONLY Legacy that comes with a 6 forward gearbox is the STi legacy.

The difference with the STi legacy from the GT and Spec-B has NOTHING to do with engine. The difference is STi interior trim, STi Legacy Pinks (different from WRX STi pinks), STi quad exhaust barrels, Brembos all around, 18" STi BBS or Enkei wheels depending upon trim option, different engine covers.

All Turbo legacies have the same engine output. With manual ones at 280bhp and A/T at 260bhp. The STi Legacy does not come with A/T.....ONLY 6fwd

15 devils, did you really test drive an STi legacy? If so, where, I would love to see it, never seen one up close and personal. If it didnt have Brembos, Quad Exhaust, STi tach up to 260 and STi trim, then chances are it was not 6 fwd, unless someone modded a GT or Spec-B's 5fwd gearbox.

manual legacy

Postby HYPERFORMANCE » June 4th, 2009, 8:49 am

btw the gt and spec.b leggies have different power output. The gt does 245hp and spec.b does 286hp. these are the automatic ones.

No my friend....The M/T (Spec-B and GT) does 276....not 286...

Spec-B is just a suspension upgrade from the GT....some say that the tranny is closer gear ratios, but this has nt been verified thus far with anything official.

Did you do a dyno run with car to confirm the 290BHP?

I notice a lot of car company claims hp on paper but when a dyno run is done, most of the times it's less.

dude the WR edition has the same output as the spec b and the gt. the only difference in the WR model is the body color, interior trim and gold 18" wheels.
i have a gt spec b and its 5 speed manual and the only legacies that are 6 speed are the STi and the S402. so whoever told you that the WR edition was 290 was fooling ya

STi gearboxes are the only 6 speed boxes from subaru to my knowledge...

That is STi WRx and STi Legacy...I think the STi Fozzy as well, i stand to be corrected on that one..

Come to think of it, none of us would have given this JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car much credence without its Nürburgring credentials, right? It's got to the stage today where any performance car must put in some time at the 'Ring if it's to be taken seriously by rev-heads around the world. Proof of that is that there are now three Japanese supercars — Honda's V10-powered NSX, the Lexus LF-A and the Nissan GT-R — all testing in Germany and vying for lap time honors.

Just to clear things up the latest model Legacy Spec B (Late 2006 and newer) does come with a six speed M/T and SI Drive .I know because i had a 2007 which i sold last year .You would be hard pressed to find a new model Legacy Spec B in Japan for less than CIF US $20,000. You can get the older 05 model for about US16K-18K

The prices quoted on Japanese websites are usually FOB you have to add the cost for shipping and Insurance

The hp rating quoted by Subaru are crank figures and not wheel hp also because of the lower octane rating of our gas we may not get the same hp as if dynoed in Japan

Well said there b18b_turbo, i see someone's been doin their homework

There's quite abut of disparity between what people'believe' and what's really the facts..so i tink some of the guys with the 290Bhp claims etc need to really research and confirm these figures.

It's not cost effective for subaru to have a multiple engine 'tuned' versions of the legacy IMO opinion..so it can't be true

okay to clear up b18b...yes I test drove a 2007 legacy spec-b 6 fwd...I made a trip to the land of the rising sun,and test drove it there....yes you are right, only 5fwds until the 06 spec-b...thats how I was able to quote the prices...a 06-present spec-b 6 fwd with genuine low mileage would start @ 16000US and thats not even with freight. There was a place I visited, and saw some spec-b wrecks that they were repairing and running back the mileage in order to sell them internationally. The 06+ spec-bs are rated @ 280hp as you stated. You know alot about the 05's and under, did you know it has about 3 variants of the 06+ sti legacy in japan ? all are options that subaru would give from factory...and the best is the S402.

this is actually the case for over 90% of the RORO cars on our roads.

Thanks for clearing up the 5fwd/6fwd issue, i was not aware of the gearbox change in the models above 06. Is it same gearbox as the STi Lecagy?

I would want to think that the gear ratios are slightly closer for the STi...
