Well I guess thats one opinion..
I had a honda before, I used OIL A and my car sounded a certain way, as well as the oil pressure and temp was different from when I used OIL B... Oil B being the genuine honda oil... My engine was actually alot quieter on startup..
So its not going to be a comprehensive report of your engines performance, but after driving a car everyday and being aware of its readings (oil temp, oil pressure etc) it will give a fair estimation of if the oil is working better for you. Also the consumption of the oil, if your engine is burning that specific oil, then I guess it would also say that this oil, isnt the correct one for me..
BTW I used castrol on one of my previous cars, broke 4 of the same engines.... switched to amsoil, never broke another.... same exact tune, same type gas, same boost.... So i guess that would have been a hint atleast then... or maybe it was just luck, but based on factors that I can examine, I would say the oil may have had a slight impact on that.
