I think he had some engine parts from a scrapped BL5

Yeah I already spoke to Yyshall.....he is the one that alerted me to the difference between the Japanese spec and the Singapore spec.

best thing is to forget the rebuild & source an engine out of the US-

less head headache as the availability of compatible parts with the upgrades and the fitment issues aren't worth it (not forgetting the paper to source and instal)- cut the losses early

been there done it

update. Both Baldwins and the QUalitech looked at the journals and decided that they are not damaged to the point of repair. They can be used again with a polish. THe cams however. Are damaged and (esp Qualitech) would not recccomend repairing. They've done so in the past and it did nto work out well.

Sooooooooo.....once again....my shopping list adjsuts again....looking for cams now.....Legacy BL5 cams that support AVCS..

with respect to options for the heads....

if using the JDM STi GC8 heads - assuming they have no AVCS function whereas the previous legas heads did? how do you compensate via ECU ?

If using the current legas heads - possible to source a rebuild kit with cams / springs / journals etc for the 7500TT price being charged for the gc8 head?

like the evo9's with the mivec heads - might need to ensure that replacement cams are avcs compliant...

$6500 for Tomei cams Ragnarok?...see? and man charging me $6000 for stock cams.

She starts!!......everythign went well.... had to use the Legacy Sump pan instead of the STI sump.

So details on what i decided to do. I used a GC8 STI block and mated my heads (journals machined and new cams) to it. Also going back up with the STI turbo and getting a down-pipe from Farley to ease the breathing.

I've zero'ed out the maps so im back to stock...but once everything is done i'll be driving out of boost for the first 1000 km and then change oil and see where we go from there.

As for tuning? I have two options im looking at, one being out of Barbados....but we'll see how that goes....
