Stripped Drain Plug

Postby apole69 » January 27th, 2020, 8:15 pm

Hey Tuners,
I recently bought a CS2 Lancer with a stripped drain plug. What's the best way to fix this problem?
Several you tube videos suggest replacing with an over size drain plug.
Is this available locally?
I've never come across this.
Much thanks!

Drill and tap over and use a bigger one. Weight the cost of a used sump. Either way most ppl will want the sump removed for drilling and tapping a different drain plug.

Actually, I was thinking about doing DIY project.
Just insert the Tap and make new thread.
Can this be done?

You should be able to guarantee that there are no metal shavings in the oil pan. The only way is to remove and reinstall the oil pan.

As stated above, consider buying a new oil pan. It will be an easier and faster repair if the part is readily available.

Thanks. I'll certainly consider that option!
