Hey guys, when revving in neutral it doesn't pass 4000 RPM. I changed throttle body, spark plugs, fuel injectors, filters, mass airflow sensor. I also tested the fuel pump ( working good) and still same problem. no codes\ engine light are showing up. 1 mechanic told me it is the fuel rail pressure regulator. I changed it and same problem. I don't know if I got a bad one. please , any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

u need to use the paperclip scanner to get the stored code.

Diagnostic Connector / OBDII port

Diagnostic codes allow us to see any errors the ECU has logged without connecting up an MUT-II diagnostic computer or a laptop with EVO Scan. All you need is a paper clip or similar piece of conductive wire, follow the procedure below to put the car in diagnostic mode, and then check the error codes you see against the list provided.

Image
The connector looks this shape, and this is the pin configuration:

With the iginition on, but engine NOT running - ground Pin 1 to Pin 4 of the diagnostic/OBDII Port (using a bit of wire or paper clip) which is located by your left knee up under the dash on drivers side. You will then get the engine light, N of the trans, ABS, TCL and ASC (if you have them) flashing.

To read the codes it will be a series of long then short flashes, ie the Nuetral light flashing _ _ _ _ *pause*. . . . . indicates code 45 (if you get what I mean)

There will be a very long pause between each code if you have more than one error code.

X, you bridging 1 to 4 as in 1,2,3 and 4 or bridging 1 and 4 only.
Just to be specific...

one end in 1
next end in 4

lol two paperclips :poke:
Knew about this grounding method in older OBDI ports and where the ECU had its own light.
Good to know this lives on instead of having to shell out a $2-300 to get a code read.

guys I did another scan today but nothing. a mechanic told me its the electronic idle control on the throttle body itself. its a black part with three screws he says the shaft inside needs servicing, but that will be done on Saturday so I'll let u all know how it goes.
thanks for all the advice so far.

Try another fuel pump & fuel pump assembly. And make sure its connected properly.

That does not affect rev limits all it does is control idle..

Did u try the paper clip method ?

Mitsubishi was very stubborn with following OBD guidelines an unless you used a MUTT scan tool readings are never reliable.

I did not give u a Fix.

I gave u a fool proof method to pull the correct fault code and get a proper diagnosis.
