Unfortunately, your transmission is on the way out. And you have a CVT transmission, not a GDI transmission. You will need to rebuild. This will cost you around $6000. I can't tell you what exactly is wrong with your transmission but this is an indicator of it failing and in need of serious repairs.

Hello, im having a similar problem cs2gdi lancer ........However, i got my rebuilt in january, and last week while driving the N light started blinking. The last time this happened was when i had to rebuild it. I had to take it back a couple of times for missealeanous tranny probs, now this.
The first time after the rebuild the gears had a delay befor engaging
the second time a serious loss of power with a kind of slipping noise before it actually started to move
And now the infamous blinking N light.
Now the car still drives normal, the Blinking N light comes on after a hiway run, or continued use. If switched off and re started it goes away until it gets a good run again.
Also im getting a random stuttering and cut off (shutdown in d middle of the road kind ting) some times but im not sure if that related to the blinking N light.
I just took it out for a 5 minute spin and it works fine.........so all of these problems are randomish
So thats the very best i can explain this, can anyone give any type of feedback!
Thanks alot guys!

If the neutral gear light blinks after a good run or a highway run it seems that as the transmission fluid gets really hot the N lights starts to blink. An external oil cooler for the transmission might solve that problem.
Thisis what you can do immediately. Take the negative terminal off from the battery and leave it like that for 15-30 mins. Replace the terminal. What that does is reset the ECU so it might get rid of the blinking light. From then on, try to be easy on your transmsion. The CVT is not a transmission you want to rough up repeatedly or for extended periods. IMO, if you rebuilt in January, you should not be having this problem. The clutches should have been changed, filter, drum, fluid, solenoid serviced and maybe the belt changed.
I need some further input from other tuners about the transmision oil cooler though.
The random stuttering you talk of, next time it happens, check to see how low your rpm is. Low idle causes this. To eliminate, clean injectors/change spark plugs/service throttle body/change air filter. Any or all of those could be the problem.

Ok, kool. The reason it was rebuilt in january was beacuse the belt had burst, so everything "supposed " to be up to mark in it......thats why im a little concerned.
So, thanks for the info, will try the suggestions for the stuttering problem.
Thanks again.

^^ Cool man.
Who rebuilt the transmission? Was it Jenton's Transmission Specialist by chance?

That's alot of money to spend and still have issues a couple months down the road. The person should have done a thorough check of all the transmission components at the point in time. I guess you just can't get good service anymore!!

Do a scan, go by some one reputable, alot of people have the equipment but only a few can use it. Trust me do a scan before u do any thing major.

I see some guys posting here that your transmission is out... I had this problem a while back and it was the sensor so don't freak out as yet, get a scan if you can though scans cost a bit of money, that would be the best way to troubleshoot your issue. Some advice: Before you have to change transmission and all kind of drama, make sure your mechanic checks the sensor to avoid a whole lot of wasted money.
Hope you get through and please post back if you figure it out
Good luck

Raymo, I had the exact same problem you're experiencing with the blinking
"N"-light, loss of power (in my case, engine check light used to come on as
well) when I pull aside, switch off and wait a lil while, she back in gear again.
Wasted ALOT of time and money by guys who "claim" they know what it was!
Ended up by Jenton in Aranguez, did their scan & it was the 4 solenoids just
as you open the sump pan in front...a total cost of $2,000.00 - she worked
like a dream after...
Still see that car in POS almost e'day, no probs at all...
If you need parts, solenoids, belts, drum, etc...I have...

Bretheren. ...... I suggest u start looking for a replacement transmission because your transmission is going dead. To rebuild or replace is just about the same price. Just now your top speed would be no more than 40km/hr. It hspoened to me before

Idk if it is similar but I got that same problem with my ck4 tranny and it turned out to be a bad relay. Before spending thousands check this out.

Unlike the CK Lancers, some CS Lancers have CVT transmission. The solution to your problem would not be the same for CVT men.

Obd1.
Uses flashes to show the code.

I thought GDI was OBDII?
Anyway, how do you actually go about performing the scan using the the paper clip method? The link below says grounding one of the pins in the diagnostic port will flash the engine warning light to indicate any stored diagnostic code(s) when ignition is switched on. This is for an FTo though, so I don't know if it's applicable to my Galant 4G93 GDI or other engines. Can anyone shed some light on this?
