Good Day Tuners,

I am thinking of purchasing a CB3 Lancer (4g91) and would like to know some details concerning the vehicle, for example;

Are parts hard or difficult to locate and where can I go to locate parts?

Is it an economical vehicle?.

What are some common problems associated with the vehicles?.

What are some upgrade options that can be done to them?.

Any Advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Thanks buddy............any more advice would be great.
Any recommend places that sells some of the parts?
How is fuel consumption?
What about performance?
What parts exactly are interchangeable?

Thanks for your response......Really appreciate it

Body parts etc are getting harder now as it's at least 16 years since they stopped the bodystyle...

Parts are interchangeable with the Libero (up to front doors) CK lancer (some suspension) and Proton Wira (engine/ suspension)

Fuel wise they aren't bad as it's a DOHC 1.5 but is that EFI of carb as the EVO was over 105BHP while the carb was around 90BHP and also the carb tended to use more fued especially if the carb needed servicing.

If EFI u shouls have a 4 speed transmission (Overdrive button type) and they do work pretty well, however you should change the transmission oil and filter on/ before time to keep it runing well. Parts wise mechanically you will find at most car part places and forign used placed for engines, transmissions etc. Things like oil seals tec tend to be generic along the lancer range so you shouldn't have a problem with getting em. also CV joints etc.

Also if you have contacts away you can get parts away as the american equivalent (92-96 mirage) still have parts available though the dealership (bear in mind Specific RHD parts or 4g91 parts would NOT be available)

Interior wise, CK lancer seats will work in your CB, also EVO 1-6 seats will directly bolt up, except for if you have folding rear seats, then the evo rear will not work unless you fabricate some hooks...

(issues to look out for: )

CB (and up to CK) lancers suffered with roof rust: the roof brackets used a sealant that trapped moisture and caused most to have terrible rust. If you see any bubbles on the roof, have it sent to a PROPER repair shop IMMEDIATELY!

Also, the rubber stabalizer bushings tend to wear out fairly quick and changing them is not a simple task, so a good idea is to get some stronger poly bushings and have em changed. Also the link bushings (little round rubber rings: 4 on each corner) tend to go bad quicky too (rubber) and can give the car a wallowy ride. Again change to poly bushings (energy suspension sells these) and firm up the car.

Check the trunk and especially around the trunk rubber for rust: this was also a common rust spot for these cars.

Mounts especially the lower front and rear mounts tend to burst faster than the others: if you find that the engine rocks heavily when you put it in drive or reverse or if you put it in drive and hear a big knock when moving off you should look at em and change what is needed to.

CB lancers center air vent/ radio surround is a piece of flimsy cracking crap... talk done

that's all I can think of for now...

Sorry misstd this post totally. apologies...

Ronniez a CB3a dashboard will fit, but you won't really want to deal with the wiring woes.

Sweep, many things can cause it: from the transmission failing, to the A/T ecu to the inhibitor switch to simply a wiring/ fuse issue.
