From reading info on website it is designed for quicker oil changes, ie open valve drain oil .. close valve full oil instead of socket to crack nut and then find a replacement seal for nut.

My concern , if you hit something in the road like a deephole, a hump or curb the lever could turn without your knowlege resulting in slight to full leakage.
The site did say that if you suspect or you run over some thing in the road you should check immediately for damage or leaks
Or if you fall out with someone he can easily turn the valve and let out your oil or some vagrant or piper can do this ...

Got this in my car for about three years now,no issues so far.
Works great.
You have to lift the lever up to unlock.

Used by Rally cars also.

^I have a question, when you lift to unlock, do you have to hold up the lever until the sump drains, or does it remain up on its own until you are ready to close it?

It's pretty much spring loaded in a groove it looks like so when you lift it the tab will swing from the groove and the oil will drain. Whe done you just pull it back.

But my main question would be how would it handle things like draining contaminants and sludgy oil?

^^You should be asking yourself how well it would handle dirt and grime buildup being under a daily/regularly driven vehicle....and whether that valve needs to be cleaned periodically.

If it's mounted on a garage queen...sure why not.

I think wagonrunner hit the nail on the head with this one.

Or if you fall out with someone he can easily turn the valve and let out your oil or some vagrant or piper can do this ...

I think this should be the least of the OP's concerns, unless of course he puts a gi-normous sticker on his car "I HAVE A FUMOTO VALVE" on his windscreen....or goes on bragging about his mad-jdmtyte-mod to his peeps who toting feelings.

People won't even know he has one, such that it can be targeted.
