Could someone educate me on the technical difference between a transfer box on a GSR evo6 and that on a RS2/RS evo 6. Problem is that i have been told a host of varying and conficting things about it. Can a TB on a GSR work on a evo 6 RS2 are the internal components of the boxes different?........are the specifications of the bearings and crown wheel and pinion different?....pardon my lacking knowledge here, and i searched to see if this is posted anywhere and did not see anything but if this is a repost point me to where there is an answer on here please.
much thanks.

Can a TB on a GSR work on a evo 6 RS2 are the internal components of the boxes different?...
are the specifications of the bearings and crown wheel and pinion different?...

Can a TB on a GSR work on a evo 6 RS2... Transfer cases (castings) are identical...and interchangeable.
I have both...and tried both for fit. Even the 4wd 1800 GSR Transfer Case can work. (Yup, from my old GSR.)

are the specifications of the bearings and crown wheel and pinion different?... I don't know. AFAIK they should be the same.

As far as differences in gear-ratios. Here are OEM specs for E6 GSRs, E6 RSs and E6 RS2s...
Make & Model: 1999 Lancer Evolution VI GSR.

BTW there was an OEM 4.875 final-drive ratio as well. It's perfect for Solodex if you can find one. No more 155 mph...but the ACCELERATION!... Image My E6 RS2 came with this one... Much less than 4.4 sec. to 60 mph... Tested constantly! I swapped in a stock E6 GSR box and T/case to test...BIG mistake. It felt like I threw away a cylinder from the 4G63.

Can you read the serial # off the g/box casing and post it please?
That will tell you the gear-ratios and final drive ratio that's installed...and if options are installed too.

^ ^ ^ Post serial # when you get it. Thanks.

BTW the only major difference between the two is...
The RS/RS2 T/case has a front helical LSD...which reduces understeer significantly.
The GSR T/case has an open diff...and understeers much more than the RS/RS2.
