lemme ask a question on MIVEC not engaging if anyone has had the experience...

Solenoid tested direct current and audible click comes...

Checked pan for dents and cut extra hole in pickup tube for more oil

flushed engine

tried different oils etc (10w 30 latest)

changed plugs,

bur still no engagement. What else could be done? MIVEC forums hasn't had more leads than what posted here that was done.

EDIT: hearing about cam tray issues... unsure as I am not too MIVEC savy... (no not my car) but who in the country are capable MIVEC mechanics that can locate, repair or replace those parts etc?

Original Mivec plugs used? Getting reading from the harness? Probably it's an ecu problem. Mivec cam tray if it's worn in certain areas the 2nd cam doesn't engage and there will be a single cam limit of around 6800.

MISHI I had issues with mine since I bought it. Not a hint of mivec. I did it all...

*Changed type of oil
*Beat out dents in sump pan.
*Cut slit in oil pick up tube.
*Manually activated solenoid
*Opened head and took out cam tray for cleaning to clear oil passages if blocked. At least 3 times.
*Raised oil pressure via the oil pressure relief valve ratchify...(no difference).
*Opened solenoid valve to check for anything unusual(seemed normal).
*Compression test(all ok).
*Installed MIVEC activation light.(ECU sending signal at 5200rpm).

My fix? Bit the bullet and bought a head as I was 99.8% sure that I checked EVERYTHING else possible. I was positive it had to be the cam tray

All I used from the head was the cam tray and the rockers as they would be better matched. I used back my cams as they were ok.

MIVECing since then. No exceptions.....

See if I left out anything....

Premium yes. And we barely making the grade eh. Gas lid says 95+...
The difference? Car will be more sluggish and there may be pinging under load.

Dem Aussies and dem get 98RON and ting.

So is super bad for your mivec? Or do you just don't gt full potential ? , I find this premium maintenance is ridiculous!

i would think mivec should be able to run on either 92 or 95 (ecu should adjust to what ever octane in use)... i dont think vtec, vvti & vvl guys have any problems using either octane!

on another note, water/methanol injection maybe a solution! top manufactures (aem, snow, coolingmist...) make kits for n/a high revving/high compression engines!
kits range from $3k to $5k and methanol is like $10 per liter!

It will run yes but not recommended. Gas lid has 95+ for a reason. Some say fill as a last resort to get home, and avoid engaging mivec, etc.

I have only ever put $40 super once due to premium shortage.

Slightly different views here I was hoping that I could run super for my everyday driving and occasionally full up on premium , So far all I gt is mixed opinions on this topic, what about a 50/50 mixture?

Folks. I'm looking for a used, non-working coil pack. I just need the rubber gasket thingy at the bottom of the stem.

WD40 destroyed one of mine when I was trying to get out a spark plug. Since then I get a miss. So I'm not sure if that missing gasket is causing it.

Fellas what brake pads you all use for the stock CK4 Mivec brakes? Daishin seems to be prevalent up my side...... :-|

I'm using Wagner quick stop. About 140 or 160 for a set. I'm on my 2nd set in about 3 years. Not harsh on rotors one bit.

No brake noise from dust but the pads need to be warm to be effective.

I get them at Dave parts place penal. But I have a regular ck2 local. The mivec pads are different and I'm not sure if Wagner makes them.

Yes they are. To avoid the blank stares at parts places I just ask for vrg pads.
