WTK Local CS3 Tranny

Postby lyndondz » March 7th, 2010, 12:13 pm

Tuners,

thinking of buying a local 2004 CS3 lancer as a daily driver.

What i want to know is

1) Do they have a CVT transmission?

2) Are these local trannies prone to problems like the Foreign used?

3) Any other advice?

yep its CVT....they could be prone to problems if the tranny oil isnt changed on time...and well depending on the mileage and how well the previous person maintained and treated the car...

my CS3 is almost 7 years old doing approx 125K on the ODO and I never got tranny problems....actually the tranny oil wasnt changed in the first 4-5 years but it still works well lol...

a CVT tranny is something u hadda get accustomed to...but you grow into it eventually...IMO its a bit sluggish at times but other times it pulls nicely...

xtech has a local 2004 CS3 but the engine was changed to a 4G92 with non CVT tranny....I dunno if he still has it for sale....I would recommend that car becuz parts for the engine are fairly easy to find....
