Mechanic recommended that I "upgrade" to iridium plugs on my 4g94 gdi galant . Did a search and saw many advised against any plug other than oem on gdi engines
so what say you guys ?
make the change ? most posts were related to the 4g93 application but does the same hold true for the 4g94 ?
also can anyone provide a part number for the correct plugs to be used in a 4g94 engine ?

cant say for the 4G94 plugs but many tried with different plugs on GDI engines and performance deteriorated
Stick to OEM...you have an Owners Manual?

unfortunately i don't have an owners manual
i read somwhere that there might be a yellow tag on the cover that specifies the required plug
hopefully it's tru and mine is still on

Looks like the NGK BKR5E-11 or NGK BKR5EIX-11
go thru these pages
http://www.produkte24.com/cy/ngk-spark- ... win-d.html
Nothing for Galant 4G94 but its specified under other models specifically Lancer 2000CC

I gots iridium 6s in my 4G93
Problem with GDI plugs is the length They are longer than regular plugs.
So when you buy compare length ok an it works fine and iridiums need less power to spark so it is easy on the coil packs i think

TRENDSETA, the OEM plug for the 4G93 GDI motor is BKR6EKUC. but I believe the KUC was updated to KUP.....
the equivalent iridium ought to be BKR6EIX-11....am I right xtech?
and the length must be maintained.....that's the design for optimum burn in the gdi motors..

^^^what kinda advice is that? ngk 2pin? lol
no offence eh but that's more of an "ole talk" kinda response....you need to be more specific when stating what someone MUST use!
So model numbers should accompany your declaration.......

don't think the one i'm using is the correct one as it's a single pin not double
but so far i have no problems with it . Got it at Mathura's in st james .
I'm still on the lookout for the double pin iridiums and if i bounce it up i'll make the change

Denso iridium tough are what are normally recommended for GDIs but they are not available in trinidad or the american market. Check Denso's site you will find the information on it.

The gdi's use 2 plugs, the bkr6ekuc, and the bkr5ekud, the 5 is a hotter range and provides better cleaning of the plug tip.
