Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X and Ralliart recall

Mitsubishi Japan has recently ordered a recall on the Evo X in both Japan and the United States. Although the recall has not yet been announced in Australia, it is expected shortly.

The recall affects vehicles with turbocharged engines because of the way the fuel return pipe is attached to the engine. Frequent operation of the vehicle at certain engine revolutions could result in damage that may cause a stress crack to develop at the fixed portion of the fuel pipe.

If the stress crack develops, the pipe could leak fuel, and if an ignition source is present, start a fire. Mitsubishi will replace the fuel return pipe and add two attachment brackets to tamp down fuel-pipe vibrations. Dealers will perform this service free of charge.

Mitsubishi just posted pictures on their website which can be seen below. Scroll to the bottom where there are two pictures of the engine. Look at the fuel return line outlined in blue. The left picture is before the recall and the right picture is after the fix. As you can see, they have added two additional brackets for the fuel return line. If yours doesn't have the additional brackets, then I'm pretty sure you will get a recall also.

not really that hard to fix. RORO men need not be afraid. they can do it themselves.
