It seems like my engine is burning oil 4G15 GDI.

After about 12 days of changing oil the oil level is low, no smoke from exhaust except a blue puffs sometimes on mornings.

Think the valve seals need changing, probably piston rings too.

What oil are u using? My oil level drops after about 3 weeks ...no signs of oil burning...i was using Castrol 20w50. Last month I switched to shell 20w50, I only topped up a little once

Castrol tends to have a low flash point which means the heat of the combustion chamber will evaporate it leaving u to think that your engine is burning oil when it isn't. Went through this with a 4g15 many years ago but then again swinging 7.5k rpms u must burn some lol.

Used straight 50 body and 40 body Castrol, same result, oil level low after about 12 days.

Used amsoil 10-30 full synth, lasted a little longer, but burned out as well.

The oil level drops by alot regardless.

No oil lasts 3 weeks.

I think its the valve seals and not the piston rings, not seeing any symptoms of worn rings.

Would like to do a leak down test.

However as im replacing valve seals might as well replace piston rings, maybe cylinder head gasket as well.

Let us know the average cost to do this.

Same one from CS5, bolt pattern of these are 4x100 and 4x114 (think some come 5 bolt) get the one as your current bolt pattern.

vim from the owners manual after changing battery on GDI, the ecu has to be re programmed
1. Allow engine to warm up until temp gauge reached about half.
2. Stop and restart the engine
3. Allow idle for approx 10mins
4. When engine speed stabilizes, the resetting is complete

Change Air filter, cleaning throttle body, check spark plugs

I never knew that......so even if you disconnect the battery for a few seconds you have to go through that procedure?

Usually after I change battery I just rev the engine a little and Im good to go.

These days I change the battery with the engine running though (so I don't loose the preamp/deck and clock settings nah lol)

Fellas small problem, trunk light doesnt come on when i open the trunk, if i open a door it will but if i close the door and the house lamp turns off so does the trunk light.
Havnt seen any fuses for trunk nor do i have any blown. Some one told me of a switch on the trunk latch itself.
Any one ever experience this or know what exactly i looking for?

My conversion to 4G93T GDI is more or less complete but I encountered some problems which are:

Indicator & park lights stop working just so even though it worked the day before. No flashing either.

The one wipe function (flick the lever up) and the fast speed does not work on the wiper motor (no current from the appropriate contacts in jack when I tested with test light) but I getting normal speed and the washer motor does not come on even though these things worked when I connected the electricals to test the electronics.

No illumination on IP when park lights switched on. I also have an identical spare switch column with light and wiper switches from another turbo front half that does the same thing. Also the original switches from the car when it had the 4G18.

I checked fuses and swapped relays, even the box behind the fuse box under the dash was swapped. Checked for loose ground wires. Still not finding the cause.

need to check the harness itself might have some breaks in the wires caused by the installation process and it looks like it mainly affected the Part of the harness that leads to the steering column

CS3 ABS PROBLEM: My cs3 ABS seems to be malfunctioning. When I'm driving it doesn't have to be fast it happens sometimes 40-50km I feel my brake pedal almost impossible to press down. I'm hearing a gripping/slipping sound when this is happening. Of course while this is happening my car is still moving and not stopping as fast as I want it too. I had some bad calipers and rotors so I changed my entire spindle on both sides cleaned out the abs sensor and changed brake fluid still happening. Any idea what can cause this?

PROBLEM 2: My car is also over heating at times. It started with the water from my radiator flowing over into the overflow bottle and just filling it up. This was happening when I had the AC on, when the AC is off its not happening. I thought it was the rad cover so I changed it and it didn't help. I then did a rad flush and sprayed out my condenser with a diluted mixture of purple baster and soap water then sprayed out with a hose. That helped the water stopped flowing into the overflow bottle and my temp gauge was not going up when I was driving below 80 with the AC on. However if I accelerate quickly with the AC on and sometimes going up a hill without the AC on the temp gauge rises above the normal level. It goes back down rather quickly if I slow back down or not using that amount of power to go up a hill. Kinda lost as to why that is happening, I recently go a suggesting that my thermostat may be malfunctioning. I'm thinking about the taking out my thermostat what you guys think any help on my both issues would be appreciated.

Dave and rosin thanks fellas will look into it.

eekipoo. the first problem is related to your abs ring. I had this issue when i changed my cvt joints and did not get the abs ring with it. The abs rings were taken off the old cv joints and put back on to the new, one ring had a very slight dent on one of the teeth and this ALONE caused the same problems you are describing. Changing the abs ring was my fix as even after straighten the old one i still had issues.
2nd issues sound more like a clogged/restricted radiator rather than a thermostat as your problem is only when the engine is under load (ac on/inclines).
And a rad flush doesnt always work as it suppose to, causes more restriction/clumps sometimes when not done properly.

nissan4life thanks for replying. I also changed CV joints a few days ago and that when the issue got worst. So i'll def try the ABS rings to see if it helps because i also used the previous one. This morning also after the abs tried to kill me. It eventually disengaged itself and the ABS light on the IP came on after that the brake worked normal (without abs).

As far a the overheating problem i'll have to check those hose manually to see it they clogged anywhere.
Thanks again will let you guys know how it goes.

Yea i forgot to mention that. once the abs light comes on the brakes will work properly, but i would still be very careful.
Once you shut off and restart the car you will basically have the same problem where the brakes will be unresponsive. Have this sorted out before something serious happens
